I hope you guys had a great weekend! Despite the wintery weather we had, we made our way to DC and VA on Saturday to visit with some friends and take the older two around the city a bit. They loved the Air & Space Museum and it’s funny how familiar it was to me from the times my dad took us there as kids. Next time we want to visit the new one by the airport that’s to be just as good if not better. We then attended the best Ninja Warrior birthday party where little Jack got to show off some crazy skills that some of you saw on my Insta-stories. I’m just thankful I had the wrong footwear so I didn’t have to show him up ;)
The kids have off school today for Presidents Day, so I should probably come up with a few plans of action, but all I have on my mind is laundry. Where does it all come from??
I’ve worn this sweater countless times over the past month or so and I’ll be wearing it well into Spring. Check out the other colors as well, they’d all look beautiful with your white denim whenever you break it out. It’s also so cozy that you can just as easily throw it on with some cute joggers and sneaks, which I just may do later this week!
Happy Friday, guys! Did this week fly by for anyone else? Valentine’s Day has past, the Lenten season has begun and we had a 60 degree day in PA yesterday! Yet I still had a difficult time finding a snow/ice free area to shoot this look, ha!
I didn’t wear my overalls much through winter, I guess because it’s harder to make sweaters work under them? But as soon as I saw the warmer weather creep in, I was ready to break them out. If you’ve followed fora while, you know these are a couple years old from Madewell, but fortunately they keep them in stock and haven’t changed them all that much. The wash looks slightly lighter and they have a raw hem but the Madwell quality hasn’t changed. I read a lot of reviews and these always receive rave reviews. So, if you are contemplating a pair, this is what I recommend!
Now, as for Lent, I’ve made the decision to do a couple of things, but one that pertains to the blog is that I’m giving up (apparel) shopping (gasp!). I do this every so often, but it’s been a while and it was pretty clear that this was a sacrifice I needed to make. Particularly because it’s probably the hardest! It’s good to keep myself in check, which isn’t to say it’s easy! When it comes to what I’ll be sharing here and on social media, I’ll be creative. I’ll be rotating pieces, styling them new ways, scouring the internet to find similar pieces to some of my older items, sharing inspiration boards and maybe even tackling some dressing room diaries (oh the torture!). If any of you happen to have given up shopping as well, let me know so we can lean on one another ;)
Happy Valentine’s Day!! Jack and I actually have something a little bit different to share with you all today, our first video! I was originally planning to do a little Q&A but then the idea of a video came up and it seemed like the right direction to take. I think you’ll get a better sense of our relationship through this video than I’d be able to express in words. And it’s probably a little more entertaining ;)
We aren’t relationship experts by any means, but we’ve been together for a loooong time and we’ve also learned a few things along the way that we’re hoping may be beneficial to your current or future relationships. I’ll link some sources that we reference during the video below for you and if you have any other questions, feel free to let us know!
Happy Monday, guys! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. We had one day of busy-ness and another of relaxing and re-cooping for the week. I absolutely love having at least one day with no pressure to be here or there. I love having time to prepare things for the week and get my house feeling in order, as opposed to waking up Monday with piles of laundry and an empty fridge!
I wore this outfit to church yesterday morning and I wasn’t going to let the rain ruin my chance at capturing it for you guys. We went straight to this covered bridge in hopes that we’d be able to get enough light underneath it. There were a few slips and slides getting there, but our mission was accomplished! I realize this likely wouldn’t make it to you in time for Valentine’s Day, but isn’t this top adorable for spring? Check out the tie detail on the back in addition to all the embroidery, peplum hem and gathered sleeve. You won’t believe the price either! And if you want a fun pair of pants to add to your wardrobe this coming season, please do pink! I’ve had this pair for a few years, but these are nearly identical and would work so well with neutral and bright tops alike. And this particular pair has received amazing reviews. I may need to look into them in another color!
I know it’s February, and there is snow on the ground and likely falling from the sky depending on when you’re reading this. But yesterday I struck up a little conversation on Instagram as I was hoping everyone would help me decide which Spring bag to choose. I was between this straw tote and this woven basket bag and everyone’s opinions were split for the most part (so basically no help at all, haha!). And then guess what happened…this one sold out in the natural color I was considering! Now, I’m not insinuating it was my influence that drove the crowds, lol, although I’m hopeful some of you snagged it! But of course you know which one I want now, right?! The one I can’t have ;)
That’s where this post comes in. Good bags can and do sell out quickly, and I don’t want you guys missing out like I already did. So I went ahead and gathered some favorites that I think will be a hit this year. It seems the round straw tote of all sizes is going to be the ‘it’ bag of the season, so I included a few of them below. I also threw in some canvas bags because you can never go wrong with those. I may not be ready for shorts or swimsuits, but a bag? Bring it on!
Which one is your favorite??
Oh, and PS, I’ll be stalking that bag just a little, and if it pops back in stock I’ll shout it from my rooftop…after I add it to my cart ;)
Hi friends! I’m wrapping up this post on yet another snow day here in PA…apparently the groundhog was right ;) Now I count down the minutes until I’m asked for hot chocolate with way too many marshmallows!
I wanted share an Instagram roundup up today since it’s been quite a while since I last did. As much fun as it is to really focus on an outfit and pull photo shoots together for them, I also enjoy sharing more of what I’m wearing on a day to day basis. Thankfully, Instagram provides the perfect platform to do that! I know many of you follow along over there as well, but for those that don’t, and in an effort to refresh and provide some everyday inspiration, here’s some of what I’ve been wearing lately. You’ll notice a lot of comfortable atheisure-wear. What can I say, this weather brings it out in me!
This sweater is a must have and the jeans are a new purchase that I cannot wait to wear. Demi boot with a little flare and a raw hem. Oh and button fly!! Super flattering and a great addition for spring!
I received some question on this jacket that’s actually from last year, but the updated version is very similar. It fits true to size (I’m typically an XS or S and went with a S to be able to layer underneath), and is perfect for the gym or running errands. I also ordered the regular Spanx leggings in an effort to give the faux leather pair a break and I’m so glad I did!
I used to feel that more than a pair or two of sneakers was unnecessary, but as I look at my array of booties, I figured it was time to diversify my sneak collection too. Since I’m wearing them more and more, I know I’ll be getting my wear out of them!
I found this adorable tee recently at Target. According to a recent quote I saw “no one goes to Target because they need something, you go to Target and let Target tell you what you need”. How true those words are ;)
Puffy coats are what the weather calls for these days. This one is still available in black and I looove the fit. Perfect length and not overly puffy. I do have another pink one linked below however, because pink is pink <3
I hope you all had a great weekend! Anyone watch the Super Bowl? As a PA resident, I was happy to see the Eagles win, and as a Justin Timberlake fan I was more than happy to watch his half-time show! How about that selfie kid?! Lucky little kid….whether he knew it or not, lol!
I wore this outfit to church yesterday morning while we were getting the prettiest snow shower. I actually got this sweater last year, but I found another one that is almost identical here. It’s all too perfect for days like this. I’ve worn it alone with denim, but love the layered look as well.
February is here which means Valentine’s Day is right around the corner <3 I have mixed feelings about this holiday. Sure I enjoy a day that’s about celebrating love, but I don’t particularly care for the way it’s forced upon us. I’m sure cupid will now plan on skipping my house this year, lol. I’m honestly much more smitten with my husband when he shows up with a bouquet of roses on a random weekday or returns from a meeting with a pedicure kit with plans to pamper me (no joke, he walked in yesterday afternoon with one in hand!). Jack knows gifts are my love language and so he makes an effort at least once a week to fulfill it. It doesn’t need to be anything extravagant and typically it isn’t. But you had better believe I feel loved when he surprises me with a latte or a box of Sour Patch Kids (a weakness of mine). I love knowing that he’s thinking of me intentionally throughout the day :)
I don’t know what Jack has in mind this year, but I’d be just as happy staying in and having a date night once the kids are tucked into bed. I won’t be a total hater, but if I can avoid the crowds and maybe get out a few nights later, I’ll take that. And if he wants to surprise me with a gift, well, I certainly won’t turn it down!
I enjoy creating these inspiration boards and came up with some lovely things that would work well no matter what your Valentine plans may be. I’m certainly never opposed to dressing for the occasion! This t-shirt could easily become a new staple in my closet, as could this cozy sweatshirt. If you’re one for red pants (I know some of you who are!) check out the sweet scalloped hem on these. And how about this adorable print for a gift idea? I’d love to do this with our anniversary date! Or these cute mugs. Jack and I have coffee together every morning, so this two-for-one gift wouldn’t be a bad idea at all. If you are planning a Valentine date night, this top would be adorable to pair with some trousers or denim. Feminine and subtle without screaming Valentine’s Day. And in case you stay in like I’m hoping to do, a cute lounge-y top paired with some chicsweats may be just what you’re looking for.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and I’ll see you back here Monday!
Last week I had a little time to sneak into H&M. Ours happens to be downtown, smack in the middle of Penn State student central. I love Penn State and all it has to offer to our town, but I’m not always thrilled to fight parking and shop amidst the early 20- somethings. Although I may not get in there often, I do always find some great pieces. I was childfree (which was a good thing because their fitting rooms are tiny), so I was able to snap some pics to share with you all!
I have a bunch of tops and sweaters to share as well as a dress today, all of which are under $35! I did try on some jeans, but wasn’t impressed by those that I took in with me…and should have known I would need to size up in there!
Okay, let’s jump in…
This sweater caught my eye as soon as I walked in. I love the stripes and the fit (I’m wearing a small) and think this would look adorable paired with white denim.
I couldn’t pass this sweater up. I came home and told Jack we needed a date night asap so I could take it for a spin :) It’s super cozy and not restrictive despite being off the shoulder. I went with an XS here, for reference.
Sleek, classy and Audrey Hepburn-ish, I love a good turtleneck. The button’s on the sleeves add a perfect little touch. This would be great for work with some trousers or for the weekend tucked into some high-waisted jeans. Oh and with a trench coat tossed on over top!
I took this sweater into the dressing room in this neutral shade but ended up bringing it home with me in blue. This color was a little too bland, but the blue is bold and beautiful, as is the purple, you should check that one out too! It reminds me of something I’d find at Madewell, but at half the price. There wasn’t a big difference between the xs and small, but I ended up with the xs that seemed to fit just a bit better.
One final sweater was this blue beauty. The picture makes me laugh because I remember how much static was in my hair from all the trying on by this point, man does that drive me crazy, lol!! The sweater though, was great. I’d probably wear a cami underneath because you can see a little more in person, but I often do that with sweaters anyway.
For those of you that are thinking spring (I can’t say I’m there yet), this blouse is right up your alley! The ruffles and eyelet detail are adorable, as is it’s billowy shape.
I don’t have a need for a dress at the moment, but I wanted to try this one on regardless. It’s very lady-like and I loved the pattern as well as the length (it fell about mid-calf). Wrap dresses can be tricky at the top, but this one worked pretty well. Depending on where you’d be wearing it, you could always discreetly hide a pin to make sure things didn’t shift around ;)
To finish with, I have four sweatshirts (because you know I can’t get enough of them these days) that would be perfect for Spring. I would have sized up to a small had they had it in this one to get a little more room, but otherwise I loved it.
This one is so fun! Give me all the greenery and pair it with dark denim, light denim, white denim, or sweats!
I love a good hoodie, especially when when embroidered flowers are involved!
This may be too late to apologize, but please ignore the state of this mirror. I didn’t notice all the dirt and dust all over it until I started putting this post together, whoops! Hopefully you can make out this pretty floral sweatshirt behind all that ;)
If you have any specific questions on these pieces feel free to ask! I’d love to know your thoughts on H&M. I’d be happy to venture in there more often if it’s something you guys would be interested in, so let me know! Some stores can be overwhelming and some people lack the time or desire to get in to the retail stores, so my hope is that these posts help to save you some time and energy. Plus, I typically enjoy it. Minus the static cling ;)
Also, take note, today H&M is offering 10% off new styles with code 0575 both online and in store!
Happy Monday, guys! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Ours was rather low-key, spent catching up on a few things and prepping for the week ahead. What was nice is that it felt somewhat Spring-like outside! But don’t worry, like it or not, snow is in our (ok my) very near future ;)
When I recently saw this sweater, I knew I loved it A) because it is reversible and B) because it comes in heathered pink and grey. If you guys could only get a glimpse of the sea of pink and grey that my closet is turning into, you might say that I have a problem. Or at the very least that I should broaden my horizons. Black isn’t my color (but it’s also available), so navy it was! I’m always a fan of navy, it’s classic, works universally, and will also pair beautifully with some white denim! This sweater does run slightly large, so I’d size down if you’re between sizes. And if you wear it in reverse you’ll likely need to layer under it…I could see a tee or a lacy cami both working well depending what style you are going for.
