Happy Friday, all! This weekend Jack and I have our 12th wedding anniversary. With a busy weekend ahead, we took time last night to get out to dinner together. He’s been my favorite date for over two decades now! As much as I enjoy his company, there’s something magical about having someone else (we have a sweet neighbor that often sits for our kids) tackle the dinner, bath, bedtime routine once in a while. That is worth every single penny, lol!
This sweater is from last year (you can see another way I styled it here), but I tracked down a bunch of similar options for you below. These joggers however, are still in store and they come in a few colors. You’ll have to try them on for yourself to see how amazing they are, but in the meantime you can take my word for it! Obviously they pair perfectly with sneaks, but I thought it would be fun to dress them up a bit. After indulging at dinner, I was all the more thankful to have had them on! Also, these shoes are down to $36! They are adorable, comfortable and the suede is perfect to dress up some of your fall outfits. Speaking of sales, Nickel & Suede is having a one day, buy one give one sale on some of their items. Such a great time to snag a new fall pair for yourself and be able to gift one to a friend!
We may not have had much sun yesterday but at least the sky cleared up for a bit! This trench was one of the jackets that I shared on my last blog post. It’s already a favorite of mine being that’s it’s both versatile and has a flattering shape to it. Jeans and graphic tee’s are easy go-to’s for me, but tossing on a classic trench over top is a fun way to take those outfits up a notch. And outside of my booties, these Converse get more wear than most of my other shoes. Comfy classics is how I like to roll ;)
PS don’t miss Audrey’s little cameo below…she totally steals the show <3
Hi guys! The rain didn’t allow for any photo shoots this weekend so instead I’ve decided to round up my favorite jackets for the fall. I’ve been asked about cute rain jackets as well, so they are included here too! I’ll be continuing with more fall favorites down the road; sweaters, boots etc, so if there’s anything you’d like to make sure I cover, let me know!
You’ll find two short sleeved jackets below and absolutely love them both. You may think the short sleeves defeat the purpose, but just think of it as a mix between a vest and a jacket. Layer your sweaters or flannels underneath, or even short sleeves when we inevitably jump back up into the 70’s. I’ve already worn this one a number of times, but I also adore the peplum bottom on this one.
Field jackets are must-haves for the fall. This one is a classic you’ll have for years to come and the camo print on this one makes it just as wearable but with a bit more character.
I may sound like a broken record when it comes to denim jackets, but when you find what works, you stick to it! This one is my all-time favorite. 100% worth the investment for the slim fit and perfect amount of stretch that keep it both comfortable and flattering. Then there’s this one that is basically a steal, but a fantastic fit for a looser, distressed style jacket.
I included two trench coats. Classic olive and khaki. How cute is the belt that comes with this olive jacket? And I ordered this one during the Nordstrom sale and I can’t say enough good things about it. I think it looks even better in person, and the color isn’t quite as saturated. The tie sleeves are playful and the front drapes open ever so perfectly as to not hide your entire outfit.
As for the rain jackets…I love the structure of this one and if your a sucker for bows, this one has a subtle tie on the back. This jacket is perfect paired with your atheleisure looks as you run around town or to and from the gym. And this jacket is what you may picture as your classic rain jacket. Plus, there’s a color for everyone!
And finally, I had to include this little number, because, well, how couldn’t I?! If you’re looking for something a little out of the ordinary, this one’s for you!
Happy Friday! It’s been a long week, but we’ve just about made it to the weekend! The heat around here has yet to let up, but I’ve been finding ways to break-in some new fall pieces. I still cannot get enough of these shorts and I loved pairing them with this striped-long sleeved tee that you may have seen in Wednesday’s post. The shorts are almost sold out, but you can check out a bunch of similar styles here. And the top is fully stocked in a number of colors for under $20. It’s a fall staple in my book that will be on heavy rotation!
I hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend! We are doing our best to get back into the swing of things here. Audrey, my baby, started preschool yesterday and I’m still having a hard time stomaching that! Granted, she’s only there twice a week for three hours, but I think it’s the fact that it’s the initial step into the real world for her that has me all emotional. I get that at some point, regardless of how many children one may have, there always comes a day where the baby grows up. And so we’re here. Practically heading off to college. My saving grace is that she still wants to rock and snuggle before bed every night, and you can bet I’m holding onto that as long as I can!
So today we’re going to wrap up my last Nordstrom try-on session. If you missed the first round, you can catch up here. There are some really great pieces, so here we go…
Let’s start here with this staple layering tee. Go grab one of every color because this one’s only $19! The fit is just loose enough, not clingy but not baggy. Perfect alone or under sweaters and fall jackets. I came across yet another fabulous pair of Madewell jeans. I came home with a pair of Levi’s instead, but these are next on my list.
Mock necks are popular this season, and I can’t say I hate them. I especially adore the colors on this one.
Here’e another one in navy stripe. This one would look great for work with trousers or how awesome with a skirt like this one?
Back to layering basics for a minute, this tank is amazing! I only bought one, but I have grey and white sitting in my cart as I type. Great cut with a longer length.
I adore this cardigan. Fun and playful yet an everyday staple at the same time in this pretty off-white.
You can always count on Free People to have the prettiest, flowy tops. This one is such a statement piece, comes in two other colors and when you can catch it at 40% off it’s worth it!
Looking for a tunic sweater that will be your cozy go-to all fall and winter? Pair it with these leggings for the most perfect outfit there ever was ;)
This is such a great thermal top. I love the cut and the added detail to the hemline. I can’t find this color online, but there are a bunch of others available.
One final top to leave you with. Let’s pretend it’s ironed, then picture how cute it is ;) Or check it out on the model image…darling, isn’t it??
Hi guys, happy Friday! I know I had mentioned that I’d be finishing up the rest of my Nordstrom dressing room session with you today, but in the midst of all the Labor Day sales I felt I should do my due diligence by sharing my favorites with you. Who wants to wait until Monday when all the deals are already running?! And we’ll get back to everything else next week, sound good?
It’s Wednesday and the first day back to school for Jack, my 4th grader and Madelyn, my 1st grader. Audrey starts two mornings of preschool next week and on one hand I have no idea what I’ll do with myself during those three hours every Tues/Thurs and on the other hand I’m already booked solid for what I ‘plan’ to do this year. Six hours a week (ok 5 when I add in travel to/from school) to schedule meetings, write blog posts, organize closets, attend bible study, tackle laundry, meal plan, grocery shop etc…..it can happen, right??
I won’t drag on about that because it’ll all sort itself out! But what’s even more fun is the gigantic Nordstrom try-on sesh I had over the weekend. So big that I’m actually breaking it up into a parts one and two. When my husband suggested we stop by Nordstrom on our way home from the beach (I kid you not, the words came straight from his mouth), I was all over it. Nordstrom is by far my favorite department store and although I love shopping online, once in a while it’s nice to haul 1,052 pieces into the fitting room and have a party :)
I found so many great pieces, from dresses to denim, basic layering tanks, jackets and sweaters. These blog posts actually take quite a bit of time to pull together, so I’ll be sharing the second half of this post come Friday, so stay tuned!
Let’s start off with this fun body-con dress. It comes in a few different colors, has a flattering ruching on the side and fits pretty true to size. I’m in an XS but could have gone with a S for a looser fit.
I then threw on this navy shift dress and absolutely loved it. This would look so cute with some peep-toe booties, but I’d also love it with over the knee boots and a blanket scarf. True to size here, I’m in an XS.
This dress was a steal on the sale rack and so adorable! Unfortunately the sizes in this color are almost sold out, but here it is in some beautiful fall colors (check out the rust and teal!) at what I think is still a great price, under $50. True to size, wearing an XS.
I feel like this body-con dress is very Insta-famous! I’ve seen it on a number of influencers and always love it. I loved it in person, too but I knew there were more color options available online (there are a dozen!). I’m bound to order one at some point. Such a perfect date night dress and I know I’d find myself layering cardigans over top as well as denim jackets and booties.
Case in point, and how cute is this Free People jacket?? I’m completely obsessed with it and will be stalking it once it goes on sale.
Ok, maybe you think I’ve lost it, but I thought this denim dress was adorable! It could certainly be worn without any layers, but I was trying to see how I’d style it for fall. It has a very flattering fit and it’s Madewell denim so you know it’s great quality!
I love this striped JCrew sweater. It would pair well with trousers for the office, think navy or even pink! I’m wearing an XS but may have grabbed a S if I purchased, the arms were a little snug.
I found these Levi’s on the sale rack and they ended up being my favorite purchase. If you follow my blog regularly you’ve seen the other Levi’s I’ve been wearing all summer long. I have a feeling these will be my new fall staples! And this top is a great layering piece. I’d love it with vests to show off the subtle details on the sleeves. I’m wearing a S and it was still pretty form fitting, so you could always size up in this one.
I fell for this wrap sweater, especially since it was marked down with the Madewell sale that was happening. I’ll keep an eye for another sale for you, because this one is a goodie! Wearing an XS.
Another super cute Madewell top. This one is perfect for the current weather but the colors are perfect to transition to fall. How cute would this be with a camel colored cardigan over top??
This cute striped top was another sale rack find which I can’t track down online, but check out this one in plaid and this one in stripe (both also on sale) that I love even more!
I loved this short sleeved sweatshirt! The color is so pretty in person and it’ll be just as cute with sweats as it is with denim. Plus, it’s only $35!
Last for today is this playful JCrew tee (currently on sale). I always love their graphic tees and keep them on hand for layering under sweaters and jackets in the fall. The fit and structure to them are always spot on. I’m wearing an XS, which is TTS.
We are back home after our week at the shore. We had the best week spending time with both friends and family in Stone Harbor, NJ. Our kids absolutely love the beach and remain occupied for hours on end when we put them in front of the ocean! We saw dolphins, horseshoe craps and sting rays and we ate more than our fair share of ice cream for one week. I managed to run almost every morning, both in an effort to balance out the food but also to serve as inspiration. There are so many beautiful homes with the most stunning architectural details that I love taking in day after day. I took dozens of photos to look back on for future projects and shared a number of them with those that follow my Insta-stories. There’s something about black windows that’s winning us all over <3
You guys have seen this $30 dress before but I encourage you to grab one if you haven’t already! It’s so comfortable, flattering and versatile and also comes in a solid black. I know sizes are running low, so here’s another striped favorite of mine as well as more options below. I threw on this Old Navy distressed jacket for a date night with Jack, another piece I highly recommend! Perfect little outfit for a perfect little date :)
Hello from Stone Harbor, NJ! We are down at the shore this week with Jack’s family enjoying the sand in our toes, some sunshine on our faces and too much ice cream in our bellies! This small town is one of my absolute favorites. I love the cute little shops, the quaint streets all perfectly landscaped and the gorgeous homes that provide inspiration for me each morning as I run. This place always inspires and refreshes me and will allow me to return home ready to jump into this new (school) year!
I’ve shared these two pieces with you recently and both the top and pants are must-haves! I love this tank now and will be pairing it under cardigans in another month or so, and these pants just came from the LOFT sale! They can pair with t-shirts, sweatshirts or even a cute chambray button-up. Tons of possibilities!
One quick side-note, I have a fun little giveaway happening over on Instagram. Check out my latest post so you can enter!
Hey guys! I realize that this is my second time taking you into the dressing room with me this week, but when I heard LOFT was having a 40% off sale, I couldn’t help but want to share everything pretty with you! I took a quick poll on Instagram yesterday before I went in to see if you’d be more interested in casual or work appropriate attire and it ended up being fairly split. The great thing about LOFT is that you know they have you covered from lounge to work and everything in between. The store is currently 40% so this is the perfect time to grab anything you’ve had your eye on!
Let’s dive into what I uncovered in store yesterday. The dresses and tops ran true to size (I’m typically a 0 or 2 in dresses and an XS or S in tops for reference) but follow along closely on pant sizing because I was in everything from 00 to 4!
Let’s start with the dresses and work our way casual. This dress was the absolute cutest in person, although hard to capture in a dressing room. It’s navy (not black), has a very flattering shape, ruffle detail at the hem and button pocket detail. I could see this being dressed up for a wedding with some heels and the right jewelry or with a cute cardigan dressed down a bit for work.
Here’s another adorable dress. The color is just beautiful and the ruffles add a sweet, feminine touch to this shift dress.
It also looks great layered up with a scarf and denim jacket to take it more casual.
This dress was so sweet. I love the floral print and the smocked top. I think it pairs perfectly, although somewhat unexpectedly with this cotton moto jacket. A cute pair of booties wouldn’t hurt either!
One final shift dress that wouldn’t be complete with out a little ruffle on the sleeves ;)
I was a big fan of both of these pieces. The top is very pretty in person with a sweet bluebird print and ruffled collar. This could definitely work dressed down with denim as well. And if you’re on the hunt (or not!) for a pair of black pants, you’ve got to give these a try. The tie detail and crepe material made me wish I had to dress up on a more regular basis! These did run large for me though, so I’d size down.
This cute t-shirt comes in a few other solid colors, but I couldn’t pass up the polka-dot print. I also loved these pants which are running low on sizes (online at least) but worth grabbing if you can. I was in a size 2 here, but I would have taken a 0 if they had them in stock.
These jeans fit like a glove, but in my typical size 2 they were too tight for my comfort (as in I’d be scared to bend over!). I’d size up one size in these, but otherwise they are great jeans with a nice dark wash for fall.
Here’s another great work outfit. More polka dots and ruffles because workwear has no reason to be boring!
Here are the same jeans I had on above (order a size up) paired with a really great striped blouse. If you have long arms you may want to size up as I would, that tends to be an issue for me.
I couldn’t wait to try on this double-breasted jacket. It’s adorable and much more unexpected than a typical blazer. Still professional but a bit more on trend right now. As I mentioned, I’m typically a 0-2 in tops, this was a 0 and it was still pretty roomy in the chest/shoulders, so you could likely size down.
On to more casual pieces. It never fails that I fall in love with a pair of Lou & Grey pants or sweats. These charcoal pants were no exception (they come in three other colors too). And the boyfriend cardi was one of the first things I picked up when I walked into the store. The grey/green is so pretty and I’m much more on board with the laid-back fit of a boyfriend cardigan. It also comes in a bunch of other colors.
Here’s a really great Lou & Grey light-weight sweater. Soft and cozy for lounging, but it could even be dressed up for work if needed.
This dolman tee comes in a few colors and is crazy soft. I went with a small here to get a bit of a looser fit, but overall it ran true to size. And how cute are these floral jeans? The print is painted on and adds such a fun touch without being too overpowering. I was in my typical size 2/26 here.
If you’re looking for the absolute softest pair of lounge pants ever, look no further! You’ll have to experience these for yourself because it doesn’t get any better than this ;) Throw on a denim jacket and some cute sneaks and this is a perfect fall, errand running outfit for me!
This cowl-neck tunic is made of the same material as the previous pants. So soft! You could technically wear it as a dress, but I’d likely throw on some leggings under it, especially for fall.
