My Kind of Suit

I could discuss all the pros of blanket scarves on this post, but I’m pretty sure most of you are already on board that train. What some of you may need some convincing on however are bodysuits. I feel as though I’ve had them towards the bottom of my list for a while but then I saw this one from J.Crew and decided to give it a try. Well, I’ve already worn it twice this week and figure I’m going to need more before people start to question me! You know I love a good front tuck, but there are times I don’t even want to deal with that or am simply looking for a more put together look. It feels so good not to have to worry about my shirt coming untucked and I know a lot of you active women (need I even mention mothers!) can probably relate. And how much sense does it make to wear one of these with your overalls? Genius. Do I continue to mistakenly refer to it as a onesie, yes, yes I do. But call it what you will, these things are awesome. Especially when it comes to layering, it feels great to have things stay in place and not shift and ride up when they aren’t supposed to. They also come in all shapes and styles. As I did some searching, Free People seems to be leading the pack in this department. Make sure you scroll below to see a bunch of my favorites. You’d never even guess most of them were bodysuits!

Sale Into the Weekend

Happy Friday guys! This week flew by, but I’m always ready for the weekend. We don’t have any major plans, just some of those oh-so-fun homeowner responsibilities to tackle. I absolutely love our home (and neighborhood) but there are times when I miss our rental days back in Hoboken. One quick phone call and any issues we ever had were quickly handled…by someone else ;) Those were the days! Regardless, I wouldn’t trade this house that’s become our home for anything.

There are a few noteworthy sales happening right now that I wanted to share with you. I’ve gathered some of my favorites from each retailer that you can find below. Happy shopping and happy weekend to you!

Anthropologie: Extra 40% off Sale

JCrew: 40% off purchase with code BIGSALE

Madewell: 20% off $100+ or 30% off $200+ with code ONYOURMARK

Beauty Go-To’s

It’s been quite a while since I’ve shared any of my beauty favorites on here. I’m always so flattered when I receive compliments on my make-up over on Instagram, and even more so when those of you ask for a tutorial! I’m far from a pro in this department (so a tutorial is a long-shot) but I have found a routine with a handful of products that’ve been working well for me for some time now. I’m not one to constantly try new products just for the sake of it, but I also don’t give up searching until I’m happy with the results. Here’s what’s been working well for me, you can scroll below for the details:

1. Bare Minerals Liner: Once in a while I’ll use a pencil liner, but I find that liquid liner lasts longer for me. And if you’re going through the trouble of putting on your make-up, you want it to last as long as possible, right?!

2. Bare Minerals Blush: This loose powder blush has been a long time favorite of mine. I’m not sure that all of the shades are shown online, but ‘secret’ is my go-to.

3. Nars Bronzing Powder: I do my best to keep my face from getting much sun, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want it to have some color! I love dusting a bit of this bronzer on my cheekbones, nose and forehead to add just a touch of color.

4. IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under eye Concealer: I’ve gone through a few concealers over the years (I do have three little kids, lol) and this one is my favorite by far. You only need a dot and this stuff stays put, covering everything that needs to be covered.

5. Nars Tinted Moisturizer: I’ve gone back and forth on a few tinted moisturizers (I prefer them over foundations), but this is the one I keep coming back to. However this one is a close second.

6. Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara: When it comes to mascaras, I have two #1’s. The reason I love this one is because of the way it can thicken my lashes with just a few strokes of the brush.

7. MAC Eyeshadow: I tend to find an eyeshadow palette I love and stick with it until my favorite three (maybe four) colors run dry. I’m pretty obsessed with this one though, so there’s a chance I’d even repurchase it!

8. Benefit They’re Real Mascara: This would be my second top mascara. I’ve loved this one for years because it lengthens my lashes like no other!

9. MAC Eyebrow pencil: I’ve gone through at least three if not four of these brow pencils. I prefer the twist over those that need sharpened and they finally added a brush to this one which was long overdue!

10. Stila Stay All Day Lipstick: I’m constantly forgetting to reapply lipstick throughout the day. That’s why I turn to this all-day-lipstick quite often, and I always receive compliments when I do. Especially in the shade ‘portofino’ ;)

11. Bare Minerals Perfecting Veil: Post tinted moisturizer and bronzer, I’ll often add a dusting of this mineral veil. It helps to set and protect the makeup I’ve already applied and gives a softer overall look.

Fall Floral

Happy Monday and Happy October to you! In one sense I feel as though I’m still transitioning out of summer, but on the other hand I finished decorating my porch with pumpkins and mums this weekend. I love how everyone gets into this season. Not only with sweaters and blanket scarves and pumpkin everyyything, but with their decor as well. I was strolling Audrey through our neighborhood the other day and I couldn’t help but admire how pretty everyone’s front porch looked. The colors are all so striking and the flowers and pumpkins are all so fresh. I’m crossing my fingers that my mums last more than two weeks this year. And if you have a secret to making them last longer, do share!

I had parts of this outfit all set for a date night that fell through last week (our poor sitter ended up sick), but I threw on a trench coat and decided to make it work for church. I’ve worn this adorable floral top a handful of times already and I love how well it works to layer. It’s also super cute with army green pants and a denim jacket. And if you need to dress it up, you could always tuck it into a skirt and throw a blazer over it. But you know me, give me denim any day!

Insta Lately

Happy Friday! I’m gathering some of my looks that have only made it to Instagram to share with you today. I think I’ll be doing a lot of mix and matching with some of these falls pieces this year. I love keeping a closet full of versatile pieces that are easily interchanged. I can already see a few front runners (aka my wardrobe work horses) taking the lead!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend full of fall festivities!!

Fall Favorites: Booties

If you’re anything like me, booties are probably a staple in your fall wardrobe. Each year I wear the heck out of at least a pair or two as I wear them nearly everyday. I think retailers have caught on because you’ll now find yourself in an ocean of booties when you go on the hunt for a pair. That may sound like a good thing to have so many options, but for myself, I’d much rather have a curated selection to choose from. I took the time to browse through hundreds upon hundreds of booties and narrowed them down to a little over a dozen in hopes that this may help some of you to make an easier decision.

I incorporated a few that make a little more of a statement, including animal print, ruffles, snakeskin and perforation in addition to the more classic styles. Most of these booties come in multiple colors, so make sure to click through the images below to get all of the details.

At first I was attempting to seek out budget friendly styles, but for me, when it comes to shoes that I’m wearing this frequently, comfort ultimately comes first and I didn’t want to sacrifice that and lead you down a path of blisters…because we all know that’s not worth anything! So I chose to stick to the brands that I know and trust and have had the best luck with in the past. My habit is to track down the pair that I most love, wait for a sale and keep my fingers crossed that my size doesn’t sell out :)

Fall Must-Have: Sweater Jacket

So cliche, I know…but guys, sweater weather is the best isn’t it?? I love the crisp air and I love layering up once it arrives. Graphic tee’s and sweater jackets make for a pretty perfect combo. I wore this outfit to church yesterday and then switched into my Converse to take Jack to his soccer game and grab some groceries.

This sweater came from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, so there’s a chance that some of you may have grabbed it too! If not, I’m sharing a bunch of other options that are currently available and allow you to pull of this similar look below.

We Love Loft Sale

Happy Friday, all! There’s a big sale happening at Loft so I’m taking you into the dressing room with me and sharing some of my favorite fall pieces thus far. There were some really great finds that are likely going to turn into constant repeat items in my closet this season! Use code NEWNOW to receive 40% off your purchase.

Let’s start with this sleeveless sweater because it fell at the top of my list. The colors and stripes are so perfect for fall and I’m very much looking forward to pairing it with denim, black pants and leggings! These tanks are great staples if you’re on the hunt as well.

And speaking of a another good staple, these tee’s are always great to have on hand. I love the green stripes on this one, perfect for fall layering.

This top is by Lou & Grey, so you can imagine how soft it is.

It has a great drapey fit and I adore having the extra length in the back (hellooo leggings).

If you need a dressy top, this top is worth trying! It’s a true wrap top and has a great fit with a hidden button closure at the perfect spot.

I’m all over wrap tops and sweaters this season because I love how flattering the fit can be. The color on this one is so beautiful. The only down side is that it has a bit of ‘itch’ to it. So you may consider sizing up and layering under it.

Yet another adorable sweater. This one has a looser fit and not only could be dressed down…

But I love it paired with this skirt! For those of you that have a dressier work style, you must try out this skirt. They didn’t have my size, so overall it’s falling a bit long on me, but I could tell the fit would have been right on.

The amount of pieces you could pair with the skirt seem endless. How pretty is this color combo though?! You can find the blouse here.

This is such a great fall dress. I can totally see it worn with knee high boots and a scarf for a more dressed down look.

This bright shift skirt is out of the norm for me, but there was something about being able to pair it with all of the fall colors that drew me in.

Some of you have seen me wear this sweater already and I highly recommend it. I don’t love all cardigans but I thought the length (and color) of this one was just perfect.

This blazer caught my eye and as soon as I felt it I knew it wasn’t your typical stiff blazer. It’s soft and has a nice amount of stretch to it, so you could keep this on hand to wear around casually over t-shirts and jeans in addition to wearing it with any career wear outfits.

And last was this loose fitting cardigan that comes in the softest khaki/camel color. This could quickly become an everyday go-to!

Ruffled Sweatshirt

We are halfway through the week guys! And to brighten your day, I just realized that this oh so adorable cropped sweatshirt is marked down to $21! Basically a steal because you’ll want to wear it everyday once you see how comfortable it is. It’s a great way to add a little something to an otherwise casual outfit. And for those of you that would rather something more neutral, it also comes in black.

I’ve also been wearing these jeans on constant repeat which many of you have noticed. This particular pair (in this wash) is now sold out, but the style is the Levi’s Wedgie. I have a similar pair linked for you below (and here) but if you love this style you won’t have a difficult time tracking them down. They are typically priced under $100 too, which is a refreshing price for quality jeans. They don’t have much stretch so I recommend sizing up one, but if you order via Nordstrom it can’t hurt to grab two sizes to test while taking advantage of their free shipping and returns.

Wishing you all a wonderful day!

Fall Favorites: Decor

Hi guys, I hope you all had a great weekend! Fall is now officially less than a week away. Whether or not the temperatures follow suit isn’t up to us, but our decor is something we certainly have control over! I don’t overdo it when it comes to fall decor, but I do love updating my rooms, scattering pumpkins, changing out my wreathes and switching out some of my faux florals around the home. I’ll also be adding some mums around our porch and hopefully snagging some pretty pumpkins from Trader Joes this week or next. I like them to last well into November, so I hold out as long as I can on both of those.

Below are some of my fall decor picks that would beautifully update your home for the season. From a stunning wreath and welcoming doormat to greet your guests to pretty wall art and cotton stems to fill any empty vases you may have lying around. And don’t forget the pumpkins. I’ve lost count of how many I have spread throughout our rooms, but I love their simplicity and the fact that you can find them in just about any color you desire these days!
