Sweater weather is in full swing and I’m ok with it! I immediately fell for this striped sweater when I saw it online. It comes in a few different color combos, but this one in particular was my favorite. The fit and feel are great and I know I’ll be wearing it all winter long. I’ve always been happy with the quality of Banana Republic’s sweaters and this one is no different. Some others that I am eyeing include this plaid pullover, this color blocked cardi, and this color blocked sweater that I swear my mom had in her closet when she was my age!
I also recently grabbed these black booties. My closet is full of brown leather and suede options, but I found I was lacking with much of anything in black. I love the sleek, pointed toe and the overall vibe with the subtle studded heel. They’re going to come in handy for any of my semi-dressy holiday looks as well! Currently you can use code AUTUMN for 20% off.
Loft’s 40% off sale is continuing through today, so I wanted to share some of the goodies I tried on over the weekend! I had Audrey in tow and was a little short on time, but we managed to get through our fair share and found a lot of pieces I think you guys will like! You can also get free shipping in addition to the discount with code: OHMYGOURD so don’t forget that if you make any purchases :)
For the most part, everything ran TTS. I’m in an XS in most things unless otherwise noted.
Speaking of sweats…scoop these up asap! They are by Lou & Grey and what I’ll be reaching for every time I change out of my clothes each day (that in between outfit when you’re done being ‘dressed’ but not ready for pj’s!)
I tried on a few dresses, all very different styles, but all pretty nonetheless. This was the most conservative with a lady-like silhouette and midi length. Great for teachers, church etc.
I was pleasantly surprised with this sweater dress. A lot of time I feel rather shape-less under them, but this was had a great weight, laid nicely and gave shape without being clingy.
Love this plaid top. Relaxed fit, gathered in the front (so you don’t even have to worry about a front-tuck) and hangs lower in the back. Perfectly festive without being over the top.
This light-weight sweater is pretty enough to wear on its own, but would also work really well layered under a blazer or cardigan. It also has a good length to it which would allow you to wear leggings…
I did try on a S here which helped to get a little more length. Had I gone with xs it would have been a bit more fitted.
This sweater comes in four beautiful colors, but the green was what I gravitated towards. Lighter in weight making it another sweater that would work well layered under a blazer for work.
Such a great sweater to pair with denim or trousers. The pom poms are a fun detail in addition to the boat neck and pretty camel color. I’d pair it with army green, navy or even red bottoms. I went with a size S here.
Happy Friday guys! We woke up to our first dusting of snow on the ground this morning and Audrey running down the stairs declaring, “IT’S CHRISTMAS!” I’ve been brainstorming and working together a number of gifts guides over the past few weeks and figured it’s time to start getting them out there. I always feel less stressed around the holidays when I have a handle on everyone on my gift list. It allows to me to enjoy the season that always flies by, regardless of how early we start!
This gift guide is not only for the fitness fanatic but anyone who has the itch to just get moving. And if you’re one who just enjoys some good athleisure wear, well then it’s for you too! I’m one who has gone through phases in life, but always enjoyed running and getting in some great classes. Since starting the Faster Way program at the beginning of the year, it helped settle me into a better/steady routine. For those that have been curious about that program (that turns into a lifestyle), you can read more about my journey with it here. And take note that their next round starts Monday!
Below you’ll find a mix of some of my favorite active wear pieces as well as some that are on my list as well! I finally splurged on a great jacket this year because I end up wearing it more than any other and this one is amazing. I also adore this sports bra which has great support, is cute and affordable nonetheless. These socks make a great add on or stocking stuffer. They stay in place better than any other I’ve tried and are thin enough that I wear them with all of my loafers and booties. A cute hat (that’s reflective too), gloves, a cozy layer or a cute tank are all gifts I’d love under my Christmas tree! And talk about a great gym bag, how adorable is this one?!
I look forward to rolling out many more gift guides over the next few weeks, so be sure to check back and easily find them (and past gift guides!) under the Holiday Gift Guides tab above!
Fleece is always something that you can find in my closet and it seems lately that everyone is catching on to the fact that we love all the comfy cozy things! I’m overwhelmed with how many cute pullovers are out there, not to mention the blankets and slippers that are also so appealing. Being warm and comfortable as I run around town from meetings to school and wherever my day may take me, is always a plus. And when you feel stylish on top of that? Well, that’s just a bonus!
I’ve had this pullover for a number of years now and I love that they keep bringing it back because it’s just that good. I added this shorter fleece to my closet this year, going with the leopard print because, why not?! I was so happy to see that they brought this amazing jacket back in grey this year! It was my most worn jacket last year, without a doubt!
I’ve been keeping tabs on my favorites and gathered them for you to check out below. Many of the pieces come in various colors/prints which you can see once you click through. Not only are these great go-to’s for you but they’d make wonderful gift ideas as well!
November is here and the weather has certainly followed suit. Colder temperatures are settling in but I can’t say I’m ready to set up my Christmas tree just yet. It feels as though Nov/Dec are completely dedicated to Christmas all of a sudden. Don’t get me wrong, I love the whole season, but I’m not ready to skip over Thanksgiving. I’ll take things a day at a time for now!
I will however, be jumping into all the warm cozy sweaters because well, I’m just not friendly when I’m cold! I need layers and this under $30 sweater is a great option. There are a number of color options, including a stunning red for those upcoming holidays ;) I’m also loving this double breasted coat. Such a chic layer to toss on without adding bulk and great to layer under or over. Olive felt like the perfect color to compliment the pink and grey, so these wide leg trousers were what I reached for to complete the look.
I’m sure many of you are coming off that sugar high today and feeling extra thankful that it’s Friday! Not only that, but we also gain an extra hour of sleep this weekend! Our trick or treat was delayed until Saturday due to the rain/wind/storms that passed through our area and I don’t think I ever recall that happening before! The good thing is that we’ll have a sunny day to look forward to as the kids load up their baskets tomorrow.
Today I wanted to play catch up on all those iphone snapshots of everyday life. The outfits I pull together and a few other odds and ends that I’ve shared over on Instagram.
I can’t get enough of these pants lately. They are great year round, but fall is definitely their favorite season!
I keep a bin of faux florals and change out my front door wreath with every season. I love how this one turned out! I have a tutorial that shows just how easy it is to make your own here. All you need is a little inspiration.
Another everyday outfit. My wide-leg crops (both these and my Everlane’s) are what I’ve been turning to most often. Makes it easy to pair with a cute, striped sweater.
This picture was actually taken last year, but I pulled this outfit together again shortly after seeing it. Most of my wardrobe remains classic enough that you wouldn’t know the difference one year from the next. A little tip, bodysuits are great under overalls so you don’t have to worry about your shirts riding up!
I ordered these sweatpants and a matching pair for my 10 yr old son. I can’t get over how cozy they are and my son has been raving about how they’re his favorite pair (and he’s a picky one when it comes to his sweatpants!). Again with this color, one I never realized how often I’d be reaching for!
Another shot from last year that decided to re-share because I came across this sweater (one of my most worn from last year) on sale and fully stocked!
Hope you all have a fantastic weekend and enjoy your extra hour of sleep!
Last week I shared a go-to list of crock pot recipes that I hope you’ve been enjoying! This recipe was one that was recommended to me by a friend (also included on that list) and was one I was excited to try out. Guys, I have a renewed love for pork tenderloin! Holy cow was this fantastic. Or as Jack put it, ‘restaurant level’ food. And I promise you, I’m no restaurant level chef, but I can follow of recipe ;) Broiling the glaze at the end is optional, but I’d highly recommend it. It has a way of locking it the delicious glaze. You could serve it any number of ways, we chose brown rice and shaved brussel sprouts this time around. Make sure you move this one to the top of your list and let me know what you think!
Crock Pot Brown Sugar & Balsamic Glazed Pork Tenderloin via Food52
Ingredients
1 teaspoon ground sage 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper 1 garlic clove, crushed 1/2 cup water 2 pounds pork tenderloin 1/2 cup brown sugar 1 tablespoon cornstarch 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar 1/2 cup water 2 tablespoons soy sauce
Directions
Mix together the seasonings: sage, salt, pepper and garlic, and rub over the tenderloin.
Place 1/2 cup water in slow cooker, followed by the tenderloin, and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours.
1 hour before the roast is finished, mix together the ingredients for the glaze in a small saucepan: brown sugar, cornstarch, balsamic vinegar, water, and soy sauce.
Heat over medium and stir until mixture thickens, about 4 minutes.
Brush roast with glaze 2 or 3 times during the last hour of cooking. (For a more caramelized crust, remove from crock pot and place on aluminum lined sheet pan, glaze, and set under broiler for 1 to 2 minutes, until bubbly and caramelized. Repeat 2 to 3 more times until desired crust is achieved.)
I hate to jinx anything, but we have been having a gorgeous fall! The colors have been vibrant and the temperatures have been overwhelmingly mild. I love these days where I’m able to dress in lighter layers without completely bundling up. You know I’ve been in love with my Everlane wide leg pants for some time now and that love isn’t fading. I’ve worn this color all throughout the year, but there’s no denying that they go hand in hand with the Autumn season. I grabbed this cropped top from Loft which feels a little out of their norm and I love it! It pairs perfectly with any type of high waisted pants, as you can see here and makes for a great layer without being too bulky. This checkered scarf was the perfect addition for the outdoors yesterday and adds some much needed interest to an otherwise simple outfit.
I never turn down a pic with one of my little cuties (who’s not so little anymore!).
My crock pot is a work horse in our kitchen. With three kids and busy schedules all around, I love when I’m not required to be tied to the stove come five o’clock. With the mix of fall weather and after school sports and practices, I find myself reaching for the crock pot on a regular basis this time of year. And then I find myself preparing the same handful of recipes over and over… and over! I realized that I needed to expand my list of go-to’s so I took the logical step and reached out to my Instagram friends asking for recipe favs. My mouth watered as I scrolled through the responses! I decided the best way to round everything up would be to share everything in a blog post so that we can all bookmark and refer back.
Below you’ll find a go-to list of yours and my favorite crock pot recipes. If you have any others that you think everyone would enjoy, feel free to share! I plan to keep this list updated over time. Enjoy!
Someone has a new bedroom and she’s pretty excited about it! Making the transition from a nursery to a big-kid room for Audrey may have been all fun for her, but it was a little more difficult on my end. We know our family feels complete, but saying goodbye to the crib and rocker that I used for all three of my babies was a little emotional for me. Thankfully all of her old furniture was passed along to another young family that will get a lot of use out of it. And now we’ll move on to making new memories in her big girl room! For those interested, you can see what her nursery looked like, here.
The bedding was my jumping off point for her room. I found the quilt and sham in a clearance corner at PB Kids and fell in love with the colors. It was the perfect inspiration piece to work off of and thankfully she loved it too (she’s an easy one to please!).
I knew a daybed was my best option for her room as it’s quite small and I needed to maximize space. I ordered the trundle as well which gives us more storage space as well as an additional bed to use for company or slumber parties down the road!
I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted to hang above her bed, but when I came across these canvases I knew they were perfect. Her favorite part is that we refer to her as ‘wild child’.
I was back and forth on her wall color, but ultimately settled on BM Gray Cashmere. I had not used this color before and it turned out even better than I had expected. It’s a beautiful blue gray that makes her room feel soft and cozy.
I had my eye on this mirror before I ever knew what I was going to do with it. I have a thing for mirrors (just ask Jack!) and knew this one would be perfect somewhere, so I grabbed it when it went on sale and held on to it. It’s now sold out, so I’m thankful I did!
I wanted to utilize wall space as best I could, so I found these bookshelves and loved how the wood tones tied in to those in her mirror. The bars were actually a dark brown, so I took them off and gave them a quick coat of spray paint to soften the look.
Tall baskets are a must for my kids rooms. They make it easy for a quick clean up!
This night light was a fun find and Audrey loves it. It creates the sweetest little hearts on her wall come night time <3
A quick Target run was all I needed to find the perfect accent pillows to complete her bed. I love the mix of pink and blue!
Both Audrey and I are thrilled with how it turned out. I’m hopeful that she’s going to love it for years to come! If not, I’ll trade with her ;)
