a lovely living

Last week I got to spend the day in Pittsburgh shopping with my mom. It’s rare to have one-on-one time with her these days, so it was quite the treat to have some time with her. I gained my love of shopping from her at a young age. She actually named me after a clothing label she used to love, Marisa Christina…so you could say it’s in my blood! We laugh that her life got much easier when she learned to give me a specific clothing budget when we’d shop. And so began my love for a good sale, ha!

We all know shopping isn’t as easy (or fun) these days, but it was nice to be able to see things in person and try items on in multiple sizes without the hassle of processing returns form my dining room table. First world problems, I know, but a hassle nonetheless. I grabbed some pictures as I shopped around and wanted to share some of my finds with you. Let me preface by saying that dressing room lighting has a long way to go, my goodness.

sweatshirt/ dark sweatpants / jacket / denim shirt / grey sweatpants

JCrew was one of my first stops and it rarely disappoints. Love their lounge basics for mixing and matching and I’m considering one of their solid ‘perfect’ jackets that I included in this post. I have it in a leopard print, but this moss is a great classic.

shirt / jeans (similar wash) / blouse

This shot doesn’t do either top justice. The gauze top feels like the blankets I used to swaddle my kids in. SO, SO soft. Great for spring and on in to summer with those light beachy vibes. The lavender blouse is so pretty in person. Great for work, Easter or any dressy/casual event. The jeans were a boyfriend fit, but I can’t seem to find the exact wash online. striped top / jeans / tie dye hoodie

I was excited to make my way into an Everlane store. Fortunately they are currently having a Spring Sale which includes almost everything! The store is filling up with warm weather pieces but my brain wasn’t ready to totally make the plunge! I did love the fit of this striped top and the fresh look of pairing things with white denim again. I knew this light-weight tie-dye hoodie was coming home with me as soon as I saw it. I’ve already been wearing it and can see it thrown on with my cut-off shorts this summer! This denim fit like a dream, but my mom told me I looked like a ship-wrecked pirate in them, and she wasn’t wrong, haha!

flutter sweatshirt / wide leg pants / quilted jacket

These pants have summer weather written all over them. Picture them with one of these Target tanks or pulled on over your swimsuit. I was happy to get to try on yet another jacket that I had shared in my spring round-up, and this one didn’t disappoint. I wouldn’t recommend pairing it with such similar denim, unless you’re going for that all out 80’s style of course!

top / jeans

There much out of the ordinary that caught my eye at Nordstrom, but there were a few good basics that I came across. This thermal top is a great winter to spring transitional piece. These are Levi’s wedgie jeans (one of my favorite styles) and I loved them in this black wash. When ordering I recommend trying a couple of sizes (your TTS and one up) as they can be tricky, even from one wash to another.

v-neck / black denim / pullover / denim

I love a good basic tee and this light-weight v-neck was a great one for the warmer months to come. I also loved this hooded pullover as it gave me more beachy vibes! Also shown above is another wash of the Levi wedgies.

pullover / leggings / tank

Here’s that same pullover from above shown in a beautiful blue. I’m wearing a size small in it here compared to the xs I had on in the white. Both sizes worked but I think I preferred the looser fit of the small. The leggings were ok but I wasn’t overly crazy about them. I tend to be more of a solid legging gal. The tank however, is great for lounge layering or workouts alike.

We may have saved the best for last as we swung by the Anthropologie Home outlet on our way out. This place was a dream and I seriously could have spent hours walking around mentally re-furnishing our home!

Their outlet is filled with floor models, customers returns, photo shoot samples and design prototypes. Many pieces have some imperfections and sales are final but the prices are greatly reduced to reflect this. I’d recommend following along on their Instagram account as they are very informative.

They do not ship from the outlet but if you live anywhere near Pittsburgh, it’s worth the drive in my opinion. I didn’t leave with anything in hand this time, but it did leave my mind swirling with inspiration!

Thanks so much for reading and if you have any questions you can leave a comment below and I’ll get back to you!
