Hey guys! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! We spent our time Saturday at my family reunion (my dad is one of 14 children, so you can imagine I have a few relatives) and yesterday at the pool. I’m been so preoccupied with my son and swim team but my 5 year old is now taking off and getting herself across the pool! Two down and one to go :)
I wore this outfit to church yesterday morning. I adore the embroidered top and it’s only $15! It’ll look adorable tucked into a denim skirt too, which is next on my list. You saw these jeans previously here. They came from the Nordstrom Sale and my goodness are they wonderful. You’ve got through this week to snag any finals goodies and if you haven’t tried any jeans yet, these are a great option!
Happy Friday! We wrapped up swim team with our son last night and after tonight’s banquet I’m not quite sure what we’ll do with the rest of our summer! Maybe we’ll just swim for fun? Ha! The summer started out rough, with my son in tears most mornings before practice. But I held strong and we pushed on. Half way through the season he flipped a switch, got the hang of things and is now already looking forward to next year! It was a new experience for us all (I never swam on a team as a child) but it was the best choice we could have made. Do any of you have summer swim ‘teamers’? I’m already working on Madelyn for next year ;)
Shall we talk about this tank for a moment? I mean, throw some bows on it and send it my way! I love the way they turn a simple tank into an eye-catching top! JCrew has a bunch of adorable tanks at the moment (and PS your purchase is 25% off today with code FRIDAY), any of which I’d gladly sneak past my husband and add to my closet ;) Also, these sandals…I only wish I had found them at the beginning of the summer. But then, I wouldn’t have gotten them almost half off!
I don’t know about you, but it takes me a bit to digest the whole Nordstrom Sale. It can be overwhelming, right?! I’m happy with the selections that I’ve made and received thus far, but now I figured I should turn some attention on some of the great finds in the children’s department.
Some of the obvious places to start are with outerwear and shoes. Those darn kids continue to grow year after year and inevitably new coats and shoes are needed. My son lives in sneakers and my girls would go crazy over these adorable shoes! And if I do splurge on Uggs, this is when I’d do it. It’s also the time to grab those warm North Face coats to keep your babes warm this winter. And how adorable is this snuggly hoodie?! It could also make a great gift for one lucky little babe. There are also a number of adorable dresses to snag. This one may be my favorite, I only wish it came in my size! Oh and take note of this chic back pack diaper bag. My sister has a similar version and she looks like the coolest mom on the block walking around with it! Last to note is this bow headband. I loved wearing these on my daughter during her first year. The wide band was soft and comfortable on her head which gave me a fighting chance of keeping it on her!
Have you guys found any goodies for your little ones? I’ll need to run this list by my kiddos first because a couple of them now have opinions of their own ;)
When I first received this dress, I can’t deny that I had flash backs from my elementary days. I know for certain that a few of my teachers wore something very similar! What I didn’t know at the time was that they were way ahead of the game ;) As soon as I put this dress on I knew I loved it. And then my husband came in the room with wide eyes and gave me a complimentary “WOW”. There’s something about a beautiful maxi that can really make a statement! This one happens to be only $27 but I also have a few other favorites that you can check out below.
Just to add to this, I’m watching a Full House re-run as I type this post and Rebecca just came on wearing prettty much the exact dress in black, haha! I always did think she was the coolest ;)
Hello ladies and hello Friday! So nice to see you both :) Well, today marks the first day that the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is open to the public, whoo hoo! If you haven’t yet, make sure you check out my last post where I share my favs from a whole slew of categories, hopefully saving you some time (and money)!
These jeans and booties are both from the sale and two items I’m already in love with. The jeans were a little splurge, but so worth it. If I had to describe them in one word, it would be butter ;) Extremely comfortable, high waisted, raw hem, denim perfection. You’ll be seeing these on me for the unforeseeable future. I ordered my normal size and they fit perfectly.
The booties are beautifully unique. I love the shape they have with the exposed ankle as well as the cut out details. I had to go with the blush, but they come in a bunch of colors that you can choose from.
And finally, I grabbed this lovely kimono at TJMaxx this past week. I fell in love with the print when I saw it and realized it’s been a while since I’ve worn one, and I don’t know why! They are such a great, light layer that adds interest to an outfit during the summer, and they’re also great to wear as a swimsuit cover-up. I’ve rounded up a bunch of other pretties for you to check out below in case you suddenly realized you need one too ;)
Hi guys! With the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale opening up to the public this Friday (yay!) I wanted to share more of my favorites broken down into a few categories for you. I received my first order and shared everything the other day over on my Insta-stories. Hopefully that was helpful to some of you! How I really wish I could be there shopping in person with each of you. Wouldn’t that be fun?!
I contemplated referring to these selections as ‘must-have’s’ or ‘best picks’ but realized that’s very subjective and my ‘must have’s’ are likely not everyone else’s! However, for those of you that keep coming back, I’m guessing that you have similar taste to me…and I’m pretty sure the feeling is mutual ;) I’m hoping to have done some of the footwork for you in order to save you some unnecessary scrolling time!
During this sale I tend to look for two things: investment items that aren’t typically on sale and basics that I know I’ll be turning to frequently this coming fall and beyond. Many times the items will fall into both categories. For example, I ordered this Madewell jacket and these Rag & Bone jeans, both of which I love and recommend (please, please restock the jacket Nordstrom!). Both are items that will not be on sale regularly if at all before they sell out and both are pieces I’ll be wearing multiple times per week in a few short months. Does that make sense?
Alright well, here we go…
Outerwear: This Madwell jacket is one of my favorite purchases. I ordered it in Ink because my collection of green jackets is slightly out of control. I’m typically an XS in jackets, however the arms on this one ran short on me. I do tend to keep my sleeves rolled though, so it’s not that big of an issue for me. I think this vest would be a great purchase and one I’m probably going to kick myself for not getting it later on. But you know, money doesn’t grow on trees around here ;)
Tops: If you’re looking for a great stand-out top, you can certainly find one or two (or ten) during this sale! I love the wrap style of this one. And bow details are so popular right now. Last year I grabbed this layering top, which comes in a ton of colors, and reached for it all year long. It’s a great staple to have around.
Dresses: Any wedding coming up this fall? This and this number are darling. And I love this little number which I’d layer a cardigan over and throw on some OTK boots with! I love you fall, but I’m still not ready for you just yet ;)
Bottoms: This is the pair that I ordered from the sale this year and they are nothing short of comfortable! Love, love them! I ordered this pair of leggings last year and they certainly got their wear, so I’d definitely recommend getting a pair this year. I just ordered this pair of faux leather leggings thanks to all the rave reviews I’ve been seeing about them on social media. I’m looking forward to wearing them with a long cardi and my Converse.
Footwear: Some of you saw that I ordered these in blush, and I have already be-friended them ;) Last year I ordered a similar pair of suede OTK boots to these and got so much wear out of them. They were and continue to be a great investment for me. I’m also addicted to mules, so both these and these are very tempting!
Accessories: I’m hoping this beauty gets restocked because it’s too beautiful (and functional) for more of you not to be able to have! I know a few of you that snagged it so you’ll have to let us know how wonderful it is in person! LeSpecs have become my new favorite glasses brand over the past year, I think I now own three pairs of them. I have this style in black and receive a ton of compliments on them. The regular price isn’t terrible for sunglasses, but getting them on sale is so much better! And if you’re looking for a simple and classic watch for fall, isn’t this guy just perfect?
Beauty: One splurge-worthy piece in the beauty department, in my opinion, would be the T3 hair-dryer. I’ve had one for years and love it. It dries my hair my quickly and even though I have short hair, I have a lot of it, so this is something I can appreciate! I also love Laura Mercier’s primer which I often mix with her tinted moisturizer during the summer months. Oh and this Nars palette looks like a dream. I use the Laguna bronzer everyday (which is included here) and I’d love to play with some of the blushes that are included!
Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Ours was pretty evenly split between time at the pool and hanging out downtown at our local Arts Festival. We ate, we played and Audrey danced her little heart out and fell into the category of ‘hot mess’ the majority of the weekend :)
I wore this outfit to church yesterday. I’ve had the top in my closet for a few years, but JCrew currently has another very similar version that I found here. It also comes in a pretty green that I’m loving! I reach for it a few times each summer and love how it can pair with trousers, denim, cut-offs, skirts etc. I threw on a bandana which is about the only layer I can handle in the heat! I love how easily it can complete an outfit, and how inexpensive they are too!
Happy Friday, gang! I’m sure many of you have seen that the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale launched yesterday. It’s only open to cardholders now through next Friday, but at that point it will open up to the public. I know I personally had a little trouble getting my order through yesterday and I heard from a number of you that you were hitting ‘refresh’ for quite some time too! We aren’t the only ones trying to get a good deal! As much as I wanted to sit and browse the sale for hours, I spent my day yesterday at swim practice, in design meetings, at the grocery store and at a swim meet until around 10pm. Because you know, life has more going on than just a sale…unfortunately ;) I plan on diving in a little more over the next few weeks and breaking down some of my favorite picks in a few categories for you, but for today I’ve gathered what I’m calling my First Look Picks. The sale will go on until August 6th, however, you’re going to want to grab those items that are more of your must-haves sooner rather than later as things do and will sell out.
Here are the pieces that quickly caught my eye out of what I’ve seen thus far. I’ve ordered a handful of things to try from this grouping and I’m excited for everything to arrive so I can see it in person. I’m thankful for free shipping and returns for this sale in particular because it allows those of us that don’t have a Nordstrom locally to be able to order multiple sizes and switch things out as needed!
This sale is a great time to try new denim (I’m trying these) and grab jackets (I ordered this), bags (I love this version of my fav tote) and shoes (had to give these a shot) because you won’t be able to beat these prices when fall rolls around. And I know I personally hate paying full retail for any of those things in particular because they can all be a bit pricy!
Let me know what you guys have found or have your eye on! I’d love to hear! And have a great weekend. Summer seems to be flying by all of a sudden!!
Hey ladies! Happy Wednesday! I know some of you are gearing up for the start of Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale (early access) tomorrow and are excited to grab some new fall pieces. I’m on board too! But I’m also still very much enjoying the summer season and wanted to share some sweet and adorable tops that you could get your wear out of these next few months. I love that each of these could be paired with a pair of cut-offs just as easily as they could go with some white denim. I find myself switching from pants to shorts (as we go from early morning to afternoon) and back to pants (as the sun sets) more often than not and I love that I don’t always need to be changing my entire outfit! And then there are the days that I don’t make it out of my gym clothes, lol, but that’s another post ;)
This was a rather impromptu shoot with my daughter, Madelyn, yesterday. When I saw that our outfits coordinated, I asked her if she’d like to take pictures with Mommy and she immediately started jumping with a huge grin on her face ;) Madelyn gives me a run for my money day in and day out. She is strong willed, stubborn and everything must be her idea or it’s simply not happening. She is also hysterical, full of personality, never bored and greatly appreciates any one on one time she can get. I couldn’t count the amount of laughs that were shared in the ten minutes or so that we spent taking these pictures and I only wish you could hear the giggles that I hear in my head just looking at these images! Granted, she is often behind the camera making me smile, but having her front and center with me was fun for the both of us, as you’ll see!
Madelyn’s adorable outfit was part of Victoria Beckham’s line at Target this Spring but is unfortunately no longer available. However, something else that may get you excited is the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale which opens up to card holders this Thursday! I know we aren’t exactly thinking fall yet (there’s still a lot of summer yet to enjoy!), but getting all the fall goodies on sale and having your wardrobe already prepped when fall arrives is something you just may thank yourself for! After August 6th prices go back up to full retail price. Things do sell out so having a Nordstrom card is beneficial as it enables you to shop before everyone else, but if you don’t the sale will open to the public on the 21st and many times items will get restocked! Give me a heads up and let me know if there’s anything in particular that your wardrobe needs ;) I’ll be doing my best to cover my favorites in as many categories as possible over the next few weeks!
