Following on the tails of my last post where I styled five dresses for spring, I decided to round-up all of the others that had caught my eye as I was browsing. There were too many to choose from and knowing that many of you have upcoming festivities, I figured it would be helpful to share! You’ll find a bit of everything including florals, solids and prints in lengths ranging from above the knee down to long and flowy maxi dresses. Let me know, which is your favorite?!
I don’t know about your household, but we were all feeling the effects of the time change around here this morning. As much as we may be missing that extra hour of sleep, it does mean that spring is closer than ever. With Easter on the horizon and a family wedding approaching, I’m looking forward to having some reasons to get dressed up again! Heels are going to be another story, but I’m willing to sacrifice and break my feet back in!
Assuming some of you may be also be on the hunt for some dressy spring attire, I took to searching and pulling together some looks for you to reference. I brought in florals, stripes, animal prints, various textures and a mix of all the beautiful spring colors. Hopefully you can use this as inspiration for pieces you may already own or introduce a few new accessories to freshen things up! You’ll find shoppable links below every look.
Next month my baby brother is getting married and we’ll officially be welcoming another sister into our family. We couldn’t be happier for the two of them and it’s quite a story of God at work bringing these two souls together.
Last weekend we threw a shower for our bride-to-be and it ended up being a beautiful celebration. The brides mother, close friends and my sister and I helped to make some of her visions come to life. We are all wearing lavender for the wedding, so that color theme was carried throughout the shower and was married with a subtle rustic vibe….. rustic romance if you will :) I was tasked with creating a flower bar which would allow all of the guests to create a bouquet to take on their way.
I loved this idea from the start, but as it came to life and we helped everyone put their bouquets together, it ended up being more beautiful than I had imagined. If we’re being honest, it can prove difficult finding a favor that appeals to an array of people, but a personalized bouquet is something that everyone can (and did) appreciate.
I worked with our local Trader Joe’s to arrange an order that was specific to our needs. They were so accommodating (as they always are) and allowed me to pull together exactly what I was looking for. An assortment of bright flowers (predominantly tulips, roses and sunflowers), a few fillers and we were set.
The bride’s mother even went so far as to create these sweet tags to tie onto each bouquet.
These two were the best little helpers! Madelyn has had her turn as flower girl in the past, so this time around Audrey gets to fill those shoes.
The stunning bride and her soon to be nieces.
The brides mother and friends get all the credit pulling together the rest of the shower which honestly felt magazine worthy! Here is a look at some of it…
I made this sign at our local Board & Brush and couldn’t wait to gift it to her.
Each guest was asked to bring a favorite recipe to share. Such a thoughtful idea.
The bride and groom.
I still remember the day he was born because I was able to be dismissed from school early ;)
The ladies from our side of the family. We’ve already welcomed her with open arms, but we can’t wait to make it offcial!
My sister and her husband stained this pallet board and hung pictures to use as the backdrop for the flower bar. It was the perfect rustic centerpiece which they’ll also be able to use at the wedding.
The most beautiful celebration for the most beautiful bride! Now we look forward to those I DO’s!
It may still be quite chilly, but signs of spring are certainly in the air. The sun has been shining, birds have been chirping and Daylight Savings is nearly upon us! On the heels of my Spring Pastels post from last week, I figured I’d put some of those things into play. Out of all the pastels, it’s no secret that mint is my favorite. It’s a color that I’m constantly gravitating towards, so it’s no surprise that I picked up this sweater. I love the chunky knit, quarter zip and wide collar. I paired it with these Madewell jeans and broke out this MZ Wallace bag as soon as it arrived. I’ve been using their Sutton bag non-stop for over a year now and have had my eye on the tote version in rose for a while. I love how durable and practical they are for my everyday life and this style in particular will prove very helpful with my kids in tow throughout the summer. They are a bit of a splurge, but if it’s something that will get as much use as mine do, they’re totally worth it!
You guys know me. I fall for pastels all year long, but they always feel the most refreshing when spring is on the horizon. From my wardrobe to my home, I just adore the soft, beautiful palette. For those of you that are speaking my language, I’ve gathered quite a collection of pastels below. Some of which I already own, the rest I’d love to! Enjoy and cheers to a great weekend ahead!
Last week I got to spend the day in Pittsburgh shopping with my mom. It’s rare to have one-on-one time with her these days, so it was quite the treat to have some time with her. I gained my love of shopping from her at a young age. She actually named me after a clothing label she used to love, Marisa Christina…so you could say it’s in my blood! We laugh that her life got much easier when she learned to give me a specific clothing budget when we’d shop. And so began my love for a good sale, ha!
We all know shopping isn’t as easy (or fun) these days, but it was nice to be able to see things in person and try items on in multiple sizes without the hassle of processing returns form my dining room table. First world problems, I know, but a hassle nonetheless. I grabbed some pictures as I shopped around and wanted to share some of my finds with you. Let me preface by saying that dressing room lighting has a long way to go, my goodness.
JCrew was one of my first stops and it rarely disappoints. Love their lounge basics for mixing and matching and I’m considering one of their solid ‘perfect’ jackets that I included in this post. I have it in a leopard print, but this moss is a great classic.
This shot doesn’t do either top justice. The gauze top feels like the blankets I used to swaddle my kids in. SO, SO soft. Great for spring and on in to summer with those light beachy vibes. The lavender blouse is so pretty in person. Great for work, Easter or any dressy/casual event. The jeans were a boyfriend fit, but I can’t seem to find the exact wash online. Similar are linked above
I was excited to make my way into an Everlane store. Fortunately they are currently having a Spring Sale which includes almost everything! The store is filling up with warm weather pieces but my brain wasn’t ready to totally make the plunge! I did love the fit of this striped top and the fresh look of pairing things with white denim again. I knew this light-weight tie-dye hoodie was coming home with me as soon as I saw it. I’ve already been wearing it and can see it thrown on with my cut-off shorts this summer! This denim fit like a dream, but my mom told me I looked like a ship-wrecked pirate in them, and she wasn’t wrong, haha!
These pants have summer weather written all over them. Picture them with one of these Target tanks or pulled on over your swimsuit. I was happy to get to try on yet another jacket that I had shared in my spring round-up, and this one didn’t disappoint. I wouldn’t recommend pairing it with such similar denim, unless you’re going for that all out 80’s style of course!
There much out of the ordinary that caught my eye at Nordstrom, but there were a few good basics that I came across. This thermal top is a great winter to spring transitional piece. These are Levi’s wedgie jeans (one of my favorite styles) and I loved them in this black wash. When ordering I recommend trying a couple of sizes (your TTS and one up) as they can be tricky, even from one wash to another.
I love a good basic tee and this light-weight v-neck was a great one for the warmer months to come. I also loved this hooded pullover as it gave me more beachy vibes! Also shown above is another wash of the Levi wedgies.
Here’s that same pullover from above shown in a beautiful blue. I’m wearing a size small in it here compared to the xs I had on in the white. Both sizes worked but I think I preferred the looser fit of the small. The leggings were ok but I wasn’t overly crazy about them. I tend to be more of a solid legging gal. The tank however, is great for lounge layering or workouts alike.
We may have saved the best for last as we swung by the Anthropologie Home outlet on our way out. This place was a dream and I seriously could have spent hours walking around mentally re-furnishing our home!
Their outlet is filled with floor models, customers returns, photo shoot samples and design prototypes. Many pieces have some imperfections and sales are final but the prices are greatly reduced to reflect this. I’d recommend following along on their Instagram account as they are very informative.
They do not ship from the outlet but if you live anywhere near Pittsburgh, it’s worth the drive in my opinion. I didn’t leave with anything in hand this time, but it did leave my mind swirling with inspiration!
Thanks so much for reading and if you have any questions you can leave a comment below and I’ll get back to you!
I realize that by sharing this post Mother Nature is going to drop a boatload of snow on us just to keep me in place! However, the sun has been shining and we felt 50 degree weather this week, so my mind can’t help but get a little eager.
When the time comes to be able to switch from my heavy winter to coats to something a bit lighter, I don’t waste any time. Often, I’ll still layer shirts and sweaters underneath, but it’s quite freeing to ditch the heavy outerwear. As spring continues to approach (can you believe March is only a few days away?), I gathered some of my top jacket picks and broke them down into categories. Denim and rain jackets are must haves. I haven’t gone overboard with the shirt jacket trend, but I do have one or two and love their casual vibe. Quilted jackets are also having a moment, however I’ve had some in my closet for years now and I don’t feel them going out of style anytime soon. Then there’s our classic anorak and utility style jackets, which I likely own one or two (or three) too many of!
It’s been a bit challenging to get outdoors lately to shoot any outfits for you guys. It seems to snow every other day, so I’m either in loungewear or bundled in a puffer coat with no chance of taking it off outdoors to actually give you a glimpse of what I’m wearing! So, for today, indoor shots it is.
I shared this top in a floral print in my latest Loft try-on. I was drawn to both the stripes and the floral and with as much as I love the style of this top, I just may end up with the floral at some point as well! Puff sleeves done right give just the right amount of flare without being obnoxious. This top would pair perfectly with trousers or tailored skirts as well and it’s lightweight so would be great during the warmer months or in air-conditioning, if we can even imagine needing an air conditioner!
These jeans are new and I’m loving the vintage style. Slim fitting with a slight flair, they’re not only elongating but will also work well with various looks. I can’t wait to style them for Spring!
With a day off around here I’ve been doing a bit of adding to cart as I browse through some of the sales currently going on. Below you can find some of my top picks as well as sale details from some of my favorite retailers.
The Spring arrivals continue to roll in and I’m loving it! Granted, we had yet another snow delay this morning, so I’m still focused on warmth but I’m keeping in mind pieces that will transition well over the next few months. Below are some of my favorites from my most recent try-on…I’ll include sizing details for reference as well.
There was no holding me back from this matching set. The comfort level is off the charts and the color is stunning (also comes in a gorg blue). I got an XS in the bottoms and sized up to a S in the sweatshirt.
The best thing about sets is that you can get more wear by mixing and matching them! I’ve had these pants for a while now and love that they are casual but a great alternative to my jeans. They do run large, I’d size down.
Most of you know I don’t wear a lot of black, but this top is just so adorable I may break my own rules. The ribbing and puffed sleeves are hard to pass up. I’m wearing a small in this one. I also love the paper bag pants, especially in this olive color. They run large as well, so I recommend sizing down in them.
Give me all the puff sleeves because, why not?? These spring colors are so cheerful! It also comes in a striped print which I saw on my way out. These jeans have such a great wash but I would have needed the curvy fit to avoid the rear gap for myself. I’m wearing a small in the top and sized down one in the bottoms.
I always want to love this babydoll style of dresses but they just aren’t me. If they are you, this one is cute, comfy and casual. I’m wearing the small.
This sweater could take you through summer with white denim and cut-off shorts and head straight into next fall! I’m wearing the small and paired with with these drawstring pants. I can’t find this color online yet, but linked the same style in other colors.
This pin-striped tunic shirt feels so fresh for the coming months. It’s a great basic to have on hand for layering but it would look fantastic with a tan and some white denim! I’m wearing the xs in the top.
I’ve been on the hunt for cardigan this length and style for a while now. I love the oversized, chunky fit. I had a hard time deciding on what color I loved the most…
