If I had to pick one color to wear forever, navy would probably be it. It’s universally flattering and looks great all year round! Since it’s so great, I decided to just take this look monochromatic. If you’re on the hunt for workwear, this top and pair of pants are two pieces you should look into. The pants have an elastic waist (I know, you’re already sold) with a laid-back feel yet professional vibe. The top resembles some others I have from Madewell, but it’s actually another Loft gem. I’ve styled it with jeans just as easily and I’ll be wearing it with denim shorts come summer time. A camel trench is a great piece to have on hand. It’s a great way to ground an outfit and a classic color that will go with almost anything.
If you want to see more ways of styling this particular top, check out my latest styling video on Instagram to get some ideas. I’ll have it up later today!
Happy Friday! It’s been a busy week on here and I haven’t even gotten around to sharing and style inspo with you until now! I’ve loved hearing all of your feedback on both The Faster Way post as well as the Interior Renovation that I shared. I love that I can share a little bit of all aspects of my life on here, because it all ties together for me and is hopefully helpful in one way or another for you!
This is a typical spring outfit for me, but I love it especially because of this particular color combination. Pink and green is just so good. This sweater is beautiful, light-weight and has a flattering fit with a darling scoop back. It’s 40% off today, so don’t let this one sell out on you! The jacket has quickly become my go-to spring jacket, and one that I wouldn’t have necessarily thought would be. I grabbed it on sale a few weeks ago and love it not only for it’s loose, laid-back vibe, but also for all of the details and longer length. It definitely stands out from my other cargo jackets. It’s a pricier piece for me (which is why I bought it on sale), but I’ll be keeping an eye on it for you guys in hopes that it drops in price again!
I’ve also been getting a ton of feedback as I’ve been breaking these Levi’s out again with the weather warming up. I’ve had these since last year at the recommendation of a friend and I adore them. They are the Levi wedgie fit. I believe these are the exact wash, but this pair is also very similar. I size up one in Levi’s, so keep that in mind if ordering.
To those of you that follow along on Instagram, you’ve seen a bit of the process behind the latest renovation project that I helped to design. The owners are some of the kindest people who entrusted their home to the builders (Steve Hackman Builders) and myself while they were away in FL for a few months. During that time, a major renovation took place updating their home and bringing it from a dated time period into the present with a classic appeal. I came to refer to it as the ‘Stone Wall Project’ because that was a dramatic feature in the home that we inevitably had to work around. Thankfully I remembered to snap some before pictures because they make the afters all the more dramatic!
Before / After
This wall was a very predominant feature in the main living space of the home. The stone was in great shape but the black grout did not do anything for the space. Thankfully, some of the guys were on board with tackling this project (which didn’t necessarily bother the homeowners) and re-grouted the stone. The result made all the difference in the world. And the crazy part is that the stone was left untouched!

Let’s move on to the kitchen from here. Some cabinetry was removed, the rest was refinished but otherwise left unchanged. Everything else, however, was updated, resulting in a major facelift.

Green was already a color the homeowners loved and it complimented the orange wood tones beautifully, so I ran with that color but in a more updated hue.
The counters went from three levels to one which changed the whole feel of the kitchen leaving it to appear much more spacious and open.
BeforeAfter
Some upper cabinets were removed and the base was extended. In an effort to work with the remaining bulkhead (which would have opened a whole other can of worms to remove), I decided to add three pendants to the seating area. I love the result and how it tied everything together.
The dining room is just off the kitchen, so we we refreshed the room with a complimentary paint color and switched out the lighting.

The best part of this project, without a doubt, was being able to greet the owners when they arrived home from their trip. I felt like there should have been HGTV cameras following us around!! Outside of a few pictures, they had not been present during any of the remodeling process. They were overjoyed with the results and the looks on their faces said it all. I’m already planning to help them track down new furniture and window coverings, so I’m thankful this won’t be the end of getting to enjoy this place in person!

Health, wellness and fitness have always been an important part of my adult life. In high school I danced and played volleyball and have led a fairly active lifestyle since then. Throughout my college years I took various fitness classes and even taught some step aerobics classes here and there…I feel like I’m really dating myself here! I also developed a love for running during this time and prior to having kids, trained and proudly finished two marathons. In my current stage of life, I continue to run (though not nearly as far) and I also include strength and interval training into my regular routine. I have a local studio that I adore and attend as I’m able (PYP) but otherwise I tackle my workouts at home. For the past year I was using the Sweat App which gave me structured workouts focusing on arms, legs and abs. I’ve enjoyed using that app and feel it is a great way to keep you on track and give you some motivation.
When it came to nutrition, I like to say that as a family we have always eaten ‘healthy’. I throw that word in quotes because in all honesty, who knows what healthy is these days? Some say eat low fat, others eat all the fat, some say you shouldn’t eat meat, others solely rely on meat, and heaven forbid we mention carbs!! For the most part, we ate fresh foods in somewhat balanced meals, but I never felt that I had a good understanding as to the best way to nourish myself and my family. I would think in my head ‘Ok, today, I’m going to be 100% healthy’, and to me, that meant, don’t eat any cookies or junk food and avoid the bag of pretzels. I would hold strong for a few days, not feeling much of any change in my body internally or externally and then cave at 9pm on the couch with a bag of sourdough pretzels. It wasn’t my appearance that I was looking to change. I knew I was a healthy weight, but I also knew that I didn’t feel great. Every single day around 3pm I’d hit a wall and that’s terrible timing when you have kids getting off the bus shortly after. Even on days when I was able to lay down for a quick 20 mins, I’d feel even worse afterwards. I was grumpy towards my kids and felt as though I was in a haze all through dinner and beyond.
I had watched a handful of women going through the Faster Way To Fat Loss program, and I saw dramatic results unfold for them. I saw them transform theirs lives and yet I continued to hold off because, well, I’m not really sure why? Maybe because I wasn’t trying to lose fat? Or maybe because I wasn’t convinced it was what I really needed? Then my best friend gave it a try. Hearing from her first hand how quickly her body felt good and wasn’t bloated and had more energy was the final kick in the pants that I needed. I signed up for the February 11th round and haven’t looked back.
I have learned so much about this program in the past 7 weeks that I never could have learned simply watching on the sidelines while others went through transformations of their own. The program is not built as some quick weight-loss program. It is a maintainable lifestyle that teaches you how to fuel your body with a mix of the appropriate macros (guys, I had zero clue what a macro was when I started this), paired with intermittent fasting and carb cycling to turn your body into a fat burner (not weight loser). I won’t lie, I was a regular breakfast eater and with the FWTFL, you won’t break your daily fast until around 11am or 12pm. The struggle was real for the first two weeks. I’d be counting down the minutes until I could dive in. But then your body adjusts. You actually find you have more energy and good things happen when your body isn’t constantly busy digesting your food. I also found that on many days, I wasn’t consuming enough food. And I’m not a girl that picks at a little food here and there. No, I like to eat. What I wasn’t eating enough of were whole, healthy foods.
Tracking food was another new venture for me. Never before had I tracked my food. I was also the most haphazard eater you’d ever met! Outside of our dinners, I rarely gave thought to what I’d eat throughout the day. And all that led to was grabbing foods that typically weren’t the healthiest of choices. What I thought was going to be the most cumbersome of tasks has turned into one of my favorite parts of the program. I now get excited for the foods I plan out during my day and enjoy my meals so much more!
The final piece of the puzzle are the workouts. I’ve heard of many women who use this program solely for the nutrition aspect and have amazing results. Nutrition is the foundation and if you are able to implement the workouts as well, then all the better. On the same note, if you are already leading an active lifestyle and have a fitness routine of your own, then you can certainly work the program around that. Everyone gets assigned a coach and an accountability group which are fantastic resources. Your coaches are there to encourage, offer advice and help answer any and all questions you have along the way. They’ll help you tweak and personalize the program in order for you to see the best possible results.
So, how did this program work for me? Well, first off, I no longer need naps! My body feels better than it has in a long time (probably ever) and it’s the first time I actually feel like I have an understanding to how I should be eating. Weighing yourself is not encouraged with the FWTFL because that’s not the best measurement of your progress, but what they do encourage is measuring yourself before and after. At the end of my first round, I did get on the scale and found I lost three pounds. Now, if I felt as good as I do and based my progress on three pounds, I would be highly discouraged. I did however lose two inches off of my waist and an inch off of my thighs. All while working out comparably to how I had been before and eating more food on any given day. These changes may not be dramatic to anyone else other than me, but to see the way my body has shifted and is stronger and leaner in just a few short weeks makes me want to kick myself for all those months I sat without taking action of my own.
Before (Feb 20) / After (March 31) Before / After
Throughout this process, I had some people say to me, ‘Ok, you’re not trying to lose weight, but I need to. Is this the right program for me?’ 100% yes!! Don’t get me wrong, if you have a healthy amount of weight to lose, you will burn fat on the FWTFL, without a doubt. But the focus will be on burning fat, not just losing weight. I’ve been in communication with a number of people also going through the program, and I have yet to hear from anyone that they did not have positive results. It truly is a lifestyle switch and one that I am so thankful I decided to make not only for myself, but for my children and husband as well.
With much of the focus revolving around food for this program, I wanted to round-up some of the foods that have become my go-to’s thus far on the program. I love following others involved with the FWTFL because I’m constantly inspired by new recipes or snacks etc. Food can be fun and not a burden! Scroll down to see some of our favorites.
The next round starts April 8th, which is SO soon!! Just enough time to have you feeling great before the warmer months get here. You can register via my referral link here. I’ll be jumping into their VIP group which anyone who has completed at least one round has the option to do. I’m excited to see what all that has in store, but I’ll be sure to keep you posted!
**The FWTFL does encourage a gluten and dairy free diet. Knowing that I do not have any related allergies, I ate them in moderation and still had great results.

Tacos are a huge hit in our house and I’m guessing the same may be true for yours. For a time, I gave up on the meal because I was so bored with the thought of eating our same old tacos time and again. Yet, my kids continued to beg for them. It was then that I searched and found this recipe on Pinterest that led us back to our regularly scheduled taco dinners! There are a few simple additions to this recipe that make this staple meal 10x’s more exciting and delicious. Simmering the ground turkey in beef broth combined with tomato sauce and then mixing in corn and black beans was all it took.
It takes a bit to simmer down, but I find that by letting it slow simmer for 15-20 minutes, I don’t even need to add the flour that can be used to thicken it up. With all of the typical seasonings added, the flavor goes to a whole new level. I’m not sure I care to eat plain old tacos again!
With that base, we then customize our plates (or bowls) as we all please. I typically serve mine over lettuce, topped with shredded cheese, salsa, avocado and a bit of sour cream. My kids will either eat theirs in a taco or in a bowl served over rice with a topping or two.
What was once boring is now fun and more flavorful than ever making our Taco Tuesday’s a night everyone looks forward to!
1/4 cup all-purpose flour (I don’t typically add flour)
1 can (14.5 oz) beef broth
1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
1 can (15 oz) black beans drained & rinsed
1 cup frozen corn
Directions:
In a large nonstick skillet, over medium high heat, cook the ground turkey with the salt & pepper until cooked through and no longer pink, breaking the meat into small pieces as it cooks. Drain.
Add the cumin, garlic powder, chili powder, onion powder, oregano, paprika, and flour. Stir the mixture constantly for 1 minute while it cooks. It will be crumbly (that’s ok).
Slowly add the beef broth, a little bit at a time, while whisking to let it thicken up. Add in tomato sauce and stir to combine.
Bring to a boil. Once boiling add the black beans and corn.
Turn heat to medium and let simmer for 15-20 minutes or until thickened.
Serve with rice and taco toppings for delicious burrito bowls.
I had a follower recently ask if I could tackle some Mommy and Me looks for Easter. I had already planned to tackle some dress options for you and I, but I thought it was a great idea to add some options for those that also have little ladies to coordinate with! I had so much fun mixing and matching these outfits, I could have gone on and on…but hopefully this is a good start to get some ideas flowing for you. I didn’t add anything for the guys this time around, but I figured it would be easy enough to figure out a matching tie or coordinate a plaid button up. And if they’re extra lucky, maybe some pastel socks :)
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Ours was great, but never long enough! With the weather every so slowly warming up it’s fun to start mixing and matching some different pieces. I picked this adorable top up at Target last week without even trying it on. I had Audrey in tow and was in no mood for any type of a try-on, but I knew it would be a keeper. And it was. I knew immediately that I wanted to wear it with my Everlane wide-leg pants, so that’s what I broke out for church yesterday. They make such a perfect pair, don’t they? Oh, and I should also share that if you love the print on this top, then you may also adore the dress that it comes in….how stinkin’ cute?!
Hello all and happy Friday! I hope you’ve all had a wonderful and productive week. There are so many great sales happening today, so I wanted to share my favorites with you all before it was too late! If there’s anything lacking for spring in your wardrobe, now’s the time to fill in that gap! Tee’s, dresses, skirts, denim and even some swim picks…you should be able to find it all on sale today…
Happy first day of spring, everyone! Don’t get me wrong, I love a beautiful blanket of snow, but come this time of year, I’m ready to move on ;) Today I wanted to share some shoes that I’ve been eyeing. I’m not ready to dive in to all-out sandals, and regardless, the 30-40 degree temperatures aren’t allowing for it either! This is more of what I’m looking to step in to as I slowly put away my boots and turn towards some lighter options. I’ve rounded up close to two dozen of my favorite sneakers, mules, espadrilles, rain boots and booties. Honestly, I could have gone on and on but I didn’t want to overwhelm you! Hopefully this is a good starting point as you begin thinking about your spring wardrobe and contemplate where you may have any voids. Which pair jumps out to you?!
Happy Monday! It’s bound to be a great week as we officially enter spring mid-week! Spring honestly isn’t my favorite season, but I’ll gladly accept it as a stepping stone to summer. As much as I enjoy layering up in the fall, I find myself wanting to lose all the layers come this time of year! However, that’s not typically an option here in the northeast. Thankfully there are cute layers like this sweater blazer to turn to. And even though it’s covered up here, you should check out this blouse as well. It’s perfect for spring/summer, light-weight with a subtle pink and white stripe. It has a great length that would let you wear it almost as a tunic length (especially if you size up), but also allows the ends to be tied at the waist for an easy, adorable look. And these overalls are still going strong for me. Many of you know I’ve had them for years, yet they remain looking brand new. You can find the updated version here, they are well worth the money. Also, I get asked often about my Nickel & Suede earrings and what size I wear. All of mine are a size medium which is the perfect size for me. They are my most worn earrings because they are light-weight and make a statement without being too overwhelming. Plus they come in just about any color you’d need!
