Outdoor Living

Happy Friday guys! Today is the last day of school for my two eldest and as much as I feel unprepared, I’m looking forward to turning off that 6:25am alarm clock come Monday! Despite the endless amounts of rain we’ve been having lately, I’ve been prepping our outdoors as we look forward to spending many hours out there this summer. I love how porches and patios can add extra square footage to a home and when you spend a little time to make them feel ‘homey‘ they are all the more appealing to get out to! Flowers alone can bring a whole lot of color and beauty to your space, but there are also some other elements that help to add comfort and appeal. I’ve put together some decor ideas to help inspire you below from outdoor lounging to entertaining. I’d love to your your favorite part of your own outdoor spaces, let me know!

Easy Breezy

Hey guys, happy Wednesday! If it weren’t for Friday being the last day of school for two of my kiddos, I promise I’d have no idea what day of the week it is! Long weekends are great but my week is always thrown afterwards. With school ending however, I feel like I’m running in circles trying to do all the things…but I don’t even know exactly what all the things are, lol.

I’ve had this kimono for a bit and of course it’s already sold out. The good thing is that I’ve found a bunch of other options that are just as pretty (see below). I love a good kimono because it can add an additional lightweight layer for summer and it can also double as a swimsuit coverup. The key is, it’s easy, and we can all use some easy for summertime :)

LOFT Try-On

Hi guys! Some of you may have already begun enjoying your long weekend, yay! I’m excited for sunshine, some pool-time, a Memorial Day race with my eldest, a picnic with friends and of course the sales that are inevitable! I ran in to Loft yesterday to do a try-on and ended up finding some really great pieces I’m excited to share with you all! I brought home a few things that I wouldn’t have expected but I’m so happy to have found. One of those being these sandals. I took them into the fitting room so that I could have them to try on with the other outfits I put together but totally fell in love with them! I’m not going to link them in every single picture below, but I’ll include them at the very bottom where I’ll link everything I tried on. Oh and I didn’t mention, but everything is 40% off!

Unless otherwise noted, I’m wearing a size XS or 0 which is my typical Loft sizing for reference, and I’m 5’7″ to give you an idea on length.

sweater / pants

This sweater is great for spring/summer. Light-weight with the prettiest shade of blue incorporated into the stripes. I’m wearing the small but could have easily sized up to a medium, so I’d say it runs small. The pants are so good. I may end up going back for them, but I hesitated because I already have a few pairs of go-to pants in this color. They are very comfortable. A relaxed fit with a drawstring waist. They could easily go from casual to dressed up with heels and a blazer.

hoodie / pants

Here are the same pants with a cozy, short-sleeved loose-fitting, Lou & Grey hoodie. This color happens to be on sale with an additional 40% off.

hoodie / shorts

It also comes in this marled grey which is equally as cute and cozy. The shorts are a great option for a slightly dressed up short.

tee / shorts

Here’s another look at the shorts. The crepe material and flat front looks very sleek and the elastic waist keeps them nice and comfy…

shorts

They have a 4 inch inseam which is great when you want to dress them up and even wear them semi-professionally with a blazer.

romper

This romper is adorable. I love the stripes, the soft color combo and the v-neck and tie waist give it such a lovely shape. I would have gone with my typical Loft size 0, but they didn’t have one in stock. This is a 00 and was way too snug in the rear!

romper / blazer

I adore it paired with this pink blazer which I fell hard for. The quality is amazing, it feels very luxe. Granted I don’t need a professional wardrobe but I plan on wearing this casually over tee’s and jeans, over dresses and jumpsuits and with my wide-leg Everlane pants.

dress

I joked on Instagram yesterday that I felt very 50’s house-wife in this dress, but in the best of ways. Yellow isn’t my best color but otherwise I loved everything about it.

dress

I didn’t have a good enough excuse to purchase this dress, but oh my was it lovely! It’s a faux wrap with adjustable straps and a tie waist. The pleated bottom and polka dots are the perfect touch to this sweet dress. If you’re much larger than a C cup up top you may struggle with the fit as it is tacked to prevent it from gaping open and I’m guessing (and reviewers confirm) that it may not lay as expected.

dress / jacket

I love how it looks with a jean jacket tossed on top. Makes it all the more versatile.

dress / jacket

If you’re on the hunt for a jean jacket, this is a great one. It has a shapely fit, a nice amount of stretch and great sleeve length (always a struggle for me!).

tank / pants

Two really great pieces here. The color combo is one of my favorites! I love the fluid, wide leg pants. Another pair of pants with an elastic waist! A white button-up would also look great as would a plain tee.

tank

The tank is also super cute. I love it paired with these pants, but it could go with denim cut-offs or a midi skirt just as easily. It also comes in a solid white which you can find here.

sweatshirt

Since I can’t get enough floral, here’s a cute, lightweight sweatshirt that’s perfect for chilly mornings/evenings or for air conditioned offices! It has enough structure to swing it for a casual work environment as well.

dress

Mixed reviews on this one. I sized up to the 2 for length which made the body a bit loose, but many of the reviews say that it ran very small overall for them. It may work well for you petite ladies though! I have seen positive reviews on this similar dress from Madewell however, so if you like this style, I’d check that one out!

tank / skirt

This skirt is another one I still have my eye on, it’s so vibrant! Pockets, elastic waist and a beautiful floral print, what’s not to love? I threw this tank on with it which is one of their essential tanks. They make it in solids and stripes as well and it’s a really great basic tank. I’m wearing a S but could even size up to a M for a little more wiggle room.

tank / skirt

My apologies on the print overload here, but I didn’t have any good tops to pair with this skirt in the fitting room with me. I loved this skirt though. I don’t own any midi skirts so I brought this one home to play with. I’m picturing it with t’shirts and chambray tops!

jacket / skirt

Here it is with a jacket to give you a better look and tone down the prints!

That’s it for today! Hope it gives you some inspiration for some outfits to come in your own closet! Have a great long weekend everyone!!

It’d hard to believe that Memorial Day, the unofficial (or is it official?) kick-off to summer is upon us! Pools will be opening, the sun will hopefully be shining and BBQ’ing will be in abundance. I always feel obligated to dress somewhat patriotically for the occasion but I’m never one to be over the top stars and stripes. I do have a couple of cute graphic tee’s, but for the most part I like incorporating pieces that work well past Memorial Day and the 4th of July. I’ve gathered a number of pieces to share with you offering some inspiration for the upcoming celebrations. All of which are items you can wear all summer long!

Denim Jumpsuit

Happy Monday, all! We had a great albeit busy weekend and I am looking forward to playing a little catch up today! There always seems to be so much to cram into a weekend, especially during this spring/end of school season. Sports events, recitals, picnics, get-togethers, and all the yard work. I never look forward to that part, but I love spending time outdoors, so I know the effort is worth it! We also continue birthday celebrations this week. Audrey turned 4 on the 9th and this week we celebrate my husband turning… older…and Madelyn turning 7!

This jumpsuit arrived last week after being backordered for over a month and I had nearly forgotten about it. You know I love my overalls, but this denim jumpsuit gives the same vibe on an elevated level. This particular jumpsuit is nearly sold out already (I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a re-stock) but I have dug up a few similar options for you, all which I love just as much! I’m planning to give you a number of styling options because I already have so many ideas on how to wear it! In the meantime, enjoy your Monday and the week ahead!

Insta Looks

Hello Friday! I just sent my son and husband off on a day-long field trip to the Pittsburgh Zoo. I’m typically the chaperoning parent, so they were excited to have a ‘boys day’ together, along with a bus full of 4th graders :) I should probably have a beer cracked open for him when he returns this evening! My husband, not my son, lol.

As it typically goes, many of my everyday outfits make it to Instagram without allowing the time to put a full post together for each look. So once in a while I like to pull them all together here, sharing what I’m loving and wearing lately. Here’s what you can see me in most recently…

Jacket / T-shirt / Jeans (similar) / Shoes
Heels
Shirt / Pants
Eyeshadow

I typically purchase larger eyeshadow palettes and end up using two or three out of 10+ options, so I was happy to find this option knowing I’ll use all three colors!

Pillow / Sheets

I shared about this pillow (and these sheets) on Instagram a few weeks ago. I’m so particular when it comes to a good pillow and was thrilled when I finally found this one at some point last year. It had amazing reviews and has lived up to all of them. I can’t sleep without it! You can read more about it here.

Top / Jeans / Earrings / Sandals
Top / Shorts / Sandals

If anyone is on the hunt for denim shorts this summer, I have a saved story on my Instagram sharing all the pairs (and sizes) that I went through before landing on these (size up two sizes, trust me!). I also kept this pair which were priced really well and another great option (but size down one).

Spring Layering

We’ve had a chilly week thus far here in central PA. Layering has been a must, but I’m never opposed to tossing on a denim jacket. If you’ve been following along, you know that I have two favorites in that category. This splurge and this steal. The first is more fitted with the perfect touch of stretch. The second (which I’m wearing here) has a more relaxed and distressed fit. I love having both options and haven’t been on the hunt for a new one for years thanks to these two!

I’m also wearing my Everlane denim that I adore and the prettiest boho top that I picked up for the summer. I love how light-weight it is and the detail is beautiful. It will look cute over cut-off shorts or could be worn oversized as a swim coverup. Also, these slides are on sale and a great neutral that goes with practically everything. Jeans, shorts, maxi dresses…they’ll be getting their wear for sure!

Dressed Up

Happy Monday! This past weekend flew by as we celebrated Audrey’s 4th birthday and Mother’s Day. It rained and poured all day yesterday which is quite the bummer when you’re excited to wear your most favorite dress! I had shared this dress with you on Instagram when it had first arrived and couldn’t wait to have a chance to wear it. It was one of those love at first sight pieces that I knew would be one I held on to for years and years to come. Anthropologie has been offering some decent pop-up sales here and there (which is when I grabbed it), but I’ve found a bunch of other options at various price points for you to check out as well.

Happy Friday! Yesterday we celebrated my baby turning 4 (to be clear, she will always be my baby) and she loved every minute of her day. From waking up to some new goodies (this ice cream shop was the biggest hit), to popsicles at preschool, birthday cake before dinner (because big brother had to run off to soccer) and her favorite meal, meatballs and noodles. All three of our kids birthday’s fall within four weeks of each other so we don’t have big parties individually each year. We do however, give them the option of taking a day trip somewhere as a family and the vote this time was to visit Lake Tobias Wildlife Park. We’ve been there a couple of times and everyone always enjoys the park, the animals and especially the safari ride where they get a chance to see and feed the wildlife up close.

Completely unrelated, today’s post is providing some inspiration in the straw bag department! They’ve been peaking my interest as I’ve spotted a few I like here and there, so I figured I’d do a little digging to uncover my favorites. These all fall under $100 with styles ranging from handbags to totes, cross body’s and clutches. I love the chic yet casual vibe they provide. Perfect for those warm summer months. They’d also make for a pretty nice last minute Mother’s Day gift as well ;)

Everyday Chambray

Between the rainy weather and life in general, capturing my outfits on camera has been proving difficult over the past few weeks. For the most part, I’ve been rotating through a lot of my everyday basics, some of which you saw on Monday’s post. A chambray top is a year round staple, but I get the most wear out of mine during the spring/summer months. I love the effortless look of wearing one alone, but it also makes for a laid back layering piece which could be worn under cardigans, sweatshirts or light sweaters. I have a number of cute options that I dug up for you to check out below!

PS This Very Berry Hibiscus Refresher may be my new summer drink, yum!!
