Our Dining Room

dining2

I imagine that a dining room may not be a big deal to most of you, but this is the first time we’ve actually had a room specifically for dining. Not a coffee table, or a nook or a breakfast bar. A real dining room. We make it a point to eat as a family just about every night, so it’s obviously an important place of gathering for our family. We also enjoy having friends and family over and we’re thrilled to have more than three barstools for everyone to relax on. I wouldn’t call it anything fancy, but it’s very us….ok, me, hence us. Now, it is still a rental, so we were happy to find neutral walls that worked well for us. I’m not a fan of painting because the thought of returning everything back to its original color at some point is all too daunting and unappealing. This is also the reason we don’t have a beautiful light fixture hanging over our table. Someday ;) Until then, here’s what we have…

The table and chairs are from Pottery Barn. I continue to claim that I don’t want my house to scream Pottery Barn and yet they always seem to have exactly what I want. So be it.

I found the large mirror at Target and the side mirrors from HomeGoods. The rug (shown above) was from HomeGoods as well. They always have the odds and ends that I need. This rug happens to be an indoor/outdoor rug which is perfect when you’re dining with two little ones.

The candle sticks were a gift from my mother from Anthropologie a few years ago. Yes, a gift that I picked out since she basically refuses to surprise me with anything because I’m too picky. Sorry mom! The vase is from KateSpade and filled with my favorites, peonies.

The runner was also from HomeGoods, spotted by my MIL who has a great eye.

The Last Supper was given to us as a wedding gift from my cousin. It’s a beautiful piece of art that has been over our “nook”, and “breakfast bar” and now into our “dining room”.

Hope you enjoyed this peek into our home! xo

I had that same Kate Spade vase, but a little larger, until Ryan gave it away. Yes, gave it away. I had a ton of crappy vases that came with flowers- he was purging our basement and got rid of them (without double checking with me). I was so mad, I think I went for a several mile walk to cool down!! Just thinking about it makes me fume!! Aaaahhh!! :) Beautiful dining…great taste you have!

I think it’s so cute that the chairs and table are different colors. That runner makes it all look so well together. We bought a house, almost 2 years ago, and I’m still waiting to get a bigger dining table.. one day, one day.
