Cold Shoulder

coldshoulder1

T-shirts and jeans. Does it get much better than that? I know my current role as a mother to three little ones plays a big factor in my love for outfits like this, but I have a feeling I’ll still be reaching for my t-shirts once they’re grown and finished wiping their dirty hands and mouths on me! T-shirts, however, don’t need to be boring. This one is a prime example of comfort with a side of chic. It’s also on sale at one of my fav’s, Anthropologie (with an extra 30% off sale items and free shipping with code: STAYCOOL), along with some other cute options I have listed for you below. The sizing runs a little large on this one, so you may want to order a size down if you’re considering.

Sorry for the delay on posting today! If you follow along on Instagram or Snapchat (mczerby), you saw that I took a quick little trip to NYC with my husband and son. My 7 year old, who was born in Hoboken, NJ and frequented the city while we lived there, seemed to have forgotten all there is to see…so we saw as much as we could, until his little feet gave up ;) It was so nice to have a little one on one time with him and it reminded me that traveling with children won’t always be so complicated and burdensome, ha! So, there you have my excuse for my delayed post, and without further ado, here are my top accessory picks from Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale. I’m curious what all you guys have found thus far and loved (or not loved)? These boots just arrived while I was away and all of a sudden I got eager for cooler temps! Shhh, forget I said that ;)

Duet Dress

I purchased this dress last year from LOFT shortly after I had had Audrey because I loved how comfortable and forgiving (like, seriously, hide everything you want hidden, forgiving) it was. Now that I’m feeling more like myself this time around, I love it just as much! This year they have it in a black/blue combo that’s just as pretty. I was in the store over the weekend and they have so many adorable dresses at the moment. So if you’re on the hunt for one for any reason, scroll below to see some of my favorites…

Orange Lace: Take Two

I love, love, love this skirt! When I grabbed it from the rack at JCrew Factory, I knew I liked it, but I’m getting even more wear out of it than I had originally expected. It’s much more fun than most of my shorts, but is just as cool in this summer heat! I actually wore this a few weekends ago to a Pittsburgh Pirates game (black and gold just aren’t my colors!) and it worked out perfectly paired with my sneakers. And speaking of sneakers, I’m loving this alternative to my classic Converse…I’ve actually managed to keep the leather clean for the past few weeks!

Quick side note to remind you that the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale opens to the public TODAY! You can check out my posts on my top clothing and shoe picks and I’ll get into the accessories next week! If you’ve had your eye on anything, don’t wait long, things have been selling out quickly!

Today we are diving into the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale again and I’m sharing my top picks in the shoe department. The shoes seem to be hanging in a little bit longer than the clothing which seems to be selling out very quickly! Well, the good stuff at least ;) There’s a nice selection of shoes available at some really great prices this year. I bought this pair of Sperry’s last year (they ended up selling out) and I’m glad to see them back because I know there were a number of you that had asked about them. I ordered this pair of cut-out booties this year and they are just adorable. I know I’ll be able to wear them with my cut-off shorts once the temps get below 80 degrees again, but they’ll obviously be perfect for fall as well. I also have my eye on a few pairs of over the knee boots, and I hope I can make my mind up before my size sells out!

Floral Jumpsuit

Jumpsuits are wonderful aren’t they? Easy and fun and they leave you feeling chic in no time. If it wasn’t so obvious, I’d wear this everyday…well, no I wouldn’t, but I’d sure like to! I love the bold pattern and the wide legs on this particular jumpsuit. Oh, and it’s sooo comfortable! LOFT currently has a number of adorable options, so I’ll link them for you below as well. If you have yet to try one, I’m going to recommend that you do ;)

Before I dive into this post, let me first say that in one sense I am already over the Nordstrom Sale and it’s only 2 days in! Many of the blogs I follow as well as my Instagram and Snap Chat feeds seem to be overflowing with an overwhelming amount of information on this topic. But on the other hand, this sale is too good not to share and I’d feel like a horrible style blogger withholding the goods from you! So, with that said, I’ll try not to be too in your face, but rather throw in a few sporadic posts over the next few weeks as the sale goes on. The truth of it is though, that sizes do sell out (I watched as it happened to items in my cart this morning!), so take it upon yourself to do a little digging and track down any must have items on your list sooner than later!

Today I’m sharing my favorites in the clothing department (we’ll get to shoes and then accessories another time). Although I did order a few things yesterday, I’m glad we have some time to digest it all because these decisions are tough! Some really great outerwear, sweaters (including some cashmere at fab prices), everyday t-shirts to wear now and later, and leggings I know I’ll be thankful to have! I’ve also noted the prices now and what they’ll be once the sale ends, just so you can see what a great deal you’ll be getting!

The sale is currently only open to cardholders, but it’s quick and easy to apply if you’re interested in either a credit or debit card (I did a debit so I can keep myself in check ;) Otherwise it opens to the public July 22nd.

So what are your thoughts? What have you found? Are you totally over the sale or jumping right in to the fun? :)

Happy Wednesday, guys! Today I have a little round-up of some things that have had my attention. What I didn’t realize until I had the image put together was that most of these items will easily take you into (don’t punch me or give me an eyeroll)…fall!! I’m not ready to shift my mind there just yet, but the highly anticipated Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (which starts Thurs!!) has me thinking forward just a bit. I’ll explain more details on that for those that are interested below. Back to the wishlist, I’d pretty much love to have it all. You can never go wrong with a navy saddle bag. Suede booties and sandals are adorable with dresses and shorts now and will look fab with denim in the fall. Maxi and midi dresses are always great alone or worn under your favorite denim jacket. And although I can’t quite get on board with a classic choker (you all know they are back, yes?) this necklace at least alludes to the current trend. Now, how in the heck do I narrow this list down??!

So, back to the Nordstrom Sale (or #NSale as you’ll see all over social media). This is when brand-new fall merchandise is released at deeply discounted prices that last a few short weeks and then go back up to full-retail price (and we don’t like paying that do we?!). This is where you need to give your brain a little mental shift forward so you can jump on the fab fall boots/bags/jackets etc. at great prices so you can thank yourself when Oct finally arrives with that chill in the air and you’re already prepared! They first offer an Early Access Sale for cardholders only from July 14-21. The hot items tend to sell out quickly, as do popular sizes, so this can be quite beneficial. I actually just caved and signed up for their debit card so I don’t miss out! The sale then opens to the public on July 22 and runs through August 8th.

*SheIn is having a summer clearance from the 17th to the 19th of July, with prices starting at $2.99!

Denim Shirtdress

stripeddenimshift1

Hope you guys had a great weekend! We had a busy, fun-filled summer weekend here. Pool time with the kids and a Pirates game yesterday, which if you follow along on Snapchat (mczerby) you likely had a few laughs with us! My whole family (minus Audrey) was together, which is quite the feat these days, and I got to meet my newest nephew Beau who is just a few weeks old. My sister, mother and I all fought very nicely over him…we’re all a bit newborn obsessed. But don’t worry, I’m not getting any ideas…that torch has been passed to my siblings!

As for this look, you all know I am big on ease and versatility when it comes to my outfits. This dress obviously falls into both of those categories, so I was eager to scoop it up. It’s kind of a ‘can’t go wrong’ piece for your closet!

chickenburger1

Just in time for a beautiful summer weekend, I have the perfect recipe for you! I can’t believe I’ve never shared this one before because it’s been a hit in our house for a few years now. One of my girlfriends introduced this Cheddar Jalapeno Chicken Burger to me at one point years ago and I’ve been making them ever since. I tend to leave out the seeds for the kids, but you can easily turn the kick up on these! Either way, make sure you have some Corona’s on hand because they make the perfect pair, for sure!

Chicken Jalapeno Cheddar Burgers via What’s Gaby Cooking:

INGREDIENTS
(*Note: I only use 1 pound of ground chicken as opposed to the 1.5 pounds this recipe calls for and I cut back slightly on all other ingredients)
1 1/2 pounds ground chicken
1/2 cup finely chopped yellow onion
1/4 cup finely chopped fresh cilantro
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
2 teaspoons chopped jalapeño
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon paprika
1/3 cup finely shredded cheddar cheese
kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper

Toppings (optional)
4 burger buns, toasted
sour cream
lettuce
sliced red onions
1 cup Guacamole

INSTRUCTIONS
1. Prepare an indoor or outdoor grill over medium heat.
2. Transfer the ground chicken to a medium bowl. Add in the onion, cilantro, garlic, jalapeño, cumin, paprika, cheddar cheese, salt and freshly cracked black pepper. Using your hands, incorporate everything together. Make sure everything is evenly incorporated without over mixing the ground chicken.
3. Form the mixture into four 1/2″-thick patties. Grill burgers over medium heat until cooked through, 5-7 minutes per side.
4. Serve each patty in a burger bun topped with guacamole and sour cream and any additional toppings needed.
